Guys can't gv specific info but this one might not end in a redshirt at all. Mike is a great kid has some personal issues that have to be addressed pronto. I just hope it's not to late.

He can't redshirt, unless he's injured. He's participated in games too late in the season.

Just posted something on Instagram about God having a plan for him and that he is where he is for a reason. I think last night really helped him realize UT is something special and that's where he needs to be. Excited for his future

All in all I'm not surprised. It's worked out well for Jashon, but Sawyers was FULL VANDY when Franklin was there, and then full UT the moment he left. I'm glad he's at UT, but he really needs to understand the opportunity that is in front of him and go fight for it instead of hanging his head. Life is full of ups and downs, but the ones who pack it up never see the finish line. We're pulling for you Mike, get it together!!!

His team needs him. DTs are beat up and he'd likely be getting minutes if he was keeping his hand to the plow.

I think sometimes coaches put you in tough situations to see how you react.

No doubt...when you line up on Saturdays in the SEC, more times than not, that constitutes a tough situation.

Was it Hurd who said, after the USCe or Bama game, that games were easy (physically) for him because Butch makes practice so uncomfortable and difficult?

That is exactly my point.
Trust. A coach needs to trust that when a player is in that situation he will respond. How does a coach know that? How the player responds in practice. Say the coach has questions about a players gusto, so the he sends him over to the practice squad. The player decides he's going to be the best damn player on the practice squad, works his tail off, and shows the coach that he can fight through adversity. Or, the player pouts, starts complaining, half-assing it and becoming a cancer.

Now, these are only examples, and I have no idea what is going on in this situation or any other. But i do know that attitude is something coaches pay a lot of attention to. And coaches have their ways of pushing buttons to expose those matters. What I do know is that the 1st player in the example is going to be the one who gets into those situations on the field. The other will be riding the pine.

"WHAT??! Really? I did not know that. Dang!" Sincerely, Riley Ferguson

You are correct!

On an off topic sidenote. I thought Scott would play more since his redshirt is done.

I'd say he definitely will now since Lane re-injured that leg. Don't know how the injury is but common sense would say his role will be expanded now IMO
