If you don't think the fact that C.Strong is African American is going to help connect with a majority recruits then you aren't being realistic..

Beyond the coaching skill and recruiting ability, I think I like Charlie Strong b/c he looks like he could put the pads on right now and stomp a mudhole in someone's ass. Dude is freaking swole.

That was ridiculous, but I don't thinks unreasonable to mention race in this coaching search. I wondered for a long time if UT would ever pursue a black football coach. Unfortunately, today, that kind of thing still plays a factor whether people are willing to admit it or not. At any rate, I'm glad it's been a non-issue to this point, from what I can tell.

Stats say race has nothing to do with it. Black recruiters are no better than white ones. Hopefully that means society has gotten to a point where even teenagers don't base their decision on where to play football on something as stupid as skin color.

I can give you some coaches: Kiffin, Meyer, Orgeron, Lupoi, Locksley, Dabo, Hinshaw, etc. All are great recruiters and are white. Just because one is black does not mean you can walk into Memphis and recruit.

I'm not slighting the fact that all of those guys are great recruiters, but more of that Charlie Strong is a good recruiter, the fact that he is black doesn't hurt, and it is a positive because recruits can instantly connect.

I don't think it makes much, if any, of a difference. UT has always been progressive in terms of race and I salute them for it.

Condredge, Cuonzo, etc.

This is the best part about the whole situation, the fact the race truly doesn't matter either way. I'm behind Strong for the next HC, with Fedora a far 2nd, and Gundy an even farther 3rd.

You hire the best coach imo not matter what race they are. You don't hire them just because they are black or because they are white. Strong has a good resume and is a Strong coach who is a winner. I would be happy with it.

What in the hohohead are guys talking about race for?

I could care less about race. I care more about a coach that get the team back to making any team that plays UT to pack a lunch for an all day azz whoopin when they step on the field! I want a coach that gets the team so fired up that whoever the opponent is they hate playing at Neyland because of how loud and hostile the environment is. I want a coach that can get UT fooball back where it is supposed to be.....at the TOP of the SEC.

This kid is going to be like M Humphrey for UA. He is all UT, but will enjoy the process. Many will get worried from time to time because they will hear positive reports from other rival sites, but this kid will end up at UT.
