'14 TN DB Emmanuel Smith

Tennessee commits taking visits? That's that ish I don't like.

He is talking about the current commits coming to Tennessee to visit. Like they've done many times. Smith would want to come visit when other UT commits are visiting again, or on their first official like Cortez. Just like Mosley is gonna be here when Craig visits the 24th. You can have as many unofficial visits as you want and players committed elsewhere or uncommitted, like to visit when other commits are here sometimes.

That was worded poorly. Can't tell if he means commits taking visits or Smith visiting when the other commits visit

Better player or better fit at this point?

Better player. Better fit is arguable. I think we can get a better HS DT than Sawyers, and Evans may be the player. Also, E. Smith can grow into an OLB, and we desperately need speed on defense.

The biggest factor though, IMO, is his brother in 2015.

Tennessee has stayed in touch with Emmanuel Smith or Emmanuel Smith has stayed in contact with Tennessee.

Sounds like Smith wants to be a Vol. Should be interesting to see if our staff takes him.

I like him, if he can fit in with our numbers. Absolutely clueless how many we can take.

If I'm recruiting Smith, I'm telling him that Franklin may not leave this year, but he won't be there to see out his playing career at Vandy.

If I'm recruiting him, I sell him on UT and let everyone else talk about other programs. If he has any sense at all, he will see the writing on the wall. If not, oh well...

A big time in state talent that would would add speed to our defense. And he has a brother who is a big time recruit as well. Take all day.

Add speed? That is his weakness as a DB. He is a 4.7 speed type of athlete. Plus he does not play very physical, which is why you see him resistant to move to OLB.

Good point if we were talking about him playing DB. A couple of the previous posters suggested he could bulk up and play OLB, which I agree. Not to mention he has a brother that is an even bigger prospect in 2015. Would be nice to keep both of these guys in state if possible.

You have to ask yourself if Josh will make or break next year's class. IMO no, he won't. Then you have to ask yourself if you would replace one out current commits with Emmanuel. IMO no, you shouldn't. If someone decommits then maybe you take him just to lock up his brother but otherwise, I don't thinkiwe should push for him.

Agree. Our roster is not in good enough shape to be taking package deals to get one elite player. In 2 years that will be a different story.
