Smith will be another player to watch in the '14 class.

Smith said Tennessee, Nebraska, Ohio State and Alabama all had coaches by Oakland to scout him this spring and he plans to camp at Tennessee, Ohio State, Vanderbilt and Alabama this summer.

His time in Knoxville this summer won't be his first trip to check out the Vols as he already spent time at Tennessee during the spring and came away impressed.

"I like it a lot. the facilities are nice. The coaches are cool. I talk to the coaches every week. I'm liking UT a lot. I talk to coach (Derrick) Ansley," Smith said

I got to watch some of Oaklands games this year and must say I came away impressed. Though I thought he was more explosive on the offensive side than defense. No doubt the kid is a freak athlete and I hope we stay close with him.

Oakland’s Emmanuel Smith had six picks, 2 returned for TDs in 4 games at MTSU 7-on-7. Yesterday.

I know this is just passing league but that's still pretty impressive to me

Per 247 -

He is still waiting on his first offer, apparently, but he is hearing from Duke, Arizona, Louisville, Miss St, and UT. All are showing legitimate interest. He was at the UT-UF game for UOV. He said he really enjoyed it and didn't know it would be as packed as it was. He got to speak to Coach Ansley after the game. He said he's been a fan of the basketball program at UT, but has never been a fan of the football program. He said this visit and keeping in touch with the coaches more frequently has definitely changed that.

Damn! It hurts when in-state recruits have these kinds of quotes about never liking UT growing up.

If UT's main revenue sport targeted short, fat, and slow beer drinkers, East TN would be a hotbed for recruiting.

Too bad football is where we hang our hat.

Either Carlos or corner said on VQ a few weeks ago that this kid would blow up.

He'll be at Junior Day next week with his little brother, also a recruit. I'll make a thread.
