Memphis, TN
Melrose HS
Athlete
HT: 5'11
WT: 170

He will be attending UT's first official Junior day this weekend. He is ranked the 7th best prospect in TN for '14 class.

He already holds offers from: UCLA, Purdue, Miss St, and Vandy. The old staff from Cincy already has a relationship with him. UT stopped by to see him 9 days ago per Barton Simmons.

good to see some threads for '14 TN prospects...

Where is that list of top recruits in TN for 2014. I know we got Hurd, TKJr, Vic, and others. I'd like to see the full list.

This is one we do not want to miss out on come next year. Kid is a baller @ whichever position you put him at whether offense/defense. Definitely one to watch.

Jalen Hurd, TKjr, Josh Malone, Alex Bars, Luke Ward, Petera Wilson, Sturghill, Jashon Robertson, Rashaan Gaulden, and A.J Long round out the top 10 prospects in TN according to 247.

Vic Wharton is rated #15, Emmanuel Smith at #18.

Article up on 247. He visited last week, and he stated he had a good time. He liked everything he saw.

UT has not offered, top 2 of Vandy and UCLA. Thinks we are close to offering. We are looking at him on O and D (WR or CB). #10 overall player in TN according to 247 composite, and he attends Melrose.

He'll be back for summer camp.

Melrose has always produced good talent. Good program and tradition. Like to see us offer this kid.

No coincidence here. Per 247 from the Memphis Nike camp:

9. Cornelius Sturghill, WR, Memphis (Tenn.) Melrose – At a camp with plenty of talented smaller, slot-type receivers, Sturghill may have had the best day. The speedy and explosive wide receiver made a few spectacular catches and showed terrific feet and change of direction after the catch. With offers from Western Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Purdue, UCLA and others, Sturghill played with as much confidence as anyone despite being slightly undersized.

One to watch, IMO. He's the type of player that we seem to be going after more and more.

Quick Take:*Working on both sides of the ball, he held his own on each. But offensively, he was arguably the most elusive player on the outside. He made multiple defenders fall down after hauling in short grabs, before showing above-average speed in the open field.

Wouldn't mind us taking this kid as an Athlete and see where he fits in. Probably slot. Really good athlete, very elusive. Maybe he earns an offer.

Saw a tweet on the ESPN page that apparently Wisconsin hasn't accepted Sturghill's commitment yet.
