'14 SC RB Caleb Kinlaw

welcome back JCGator. whats the word with Kinlaw and UT?

Current coaches have never seen him work out, they want to see him in camp, so Caleb is making the trip this weekend. It's no secret he loves UT.

If it works out, great. But he has plenty of other options. GT, UNC, Arizona St and Kansas State are recruiting him the hardest. Vandy hinted of an offer, so they may swing by Nashville, then to UNC.

Caleb is a great kid. He works hard, always positive. He has worked hard this summer in the weight room and put on some good weight.

so theyre still contacting him?

Not 100% positive, but I assume they are. I can't imagine Caleb going up there if he hasn't had communication with someone on the UT staff.

Mr.Kinlaw is a no nonsense type of guy. He played college ball and CFL. His oldest son played RB at Penn State. Recruiting is nothing new to him, I don't think he would drive to Knoxville if there wasn't any contact or interest.

This guy definitely will do good things there. He's got a great attitude, great work ethic, and the talent to succeed.

Seriously?

Look, I'm not here to start an argument, but this is so wrong on many levels.

Your co-worker's son attends Goose Creek, it's obvious he doesn't play football, yet he can evaluate a player and says Caleb can't play in he SEC?

Goose Creek was ranked #11 in USA Today, a top 20 team in most polls including ESPN, MaxPreps, and Rivals before they were ruled ineligible during the playoffs for a paperwork error involving a special needs kid that was on the team who hardly ever played.

Goose Creek plays in the highest classification (AAAA) in South Carolina. They only play teams in their class, so I don't know what you mean when you say they struggle against tougher divisions. They have won 27 games in a row, and posted a record of 40-2 last three years.

Competition down here isn't great? Atlanta area has a bigger population than the whole state of SC, yet SC had 5 schools finish in the Top 55 in Rival's final rankings. That's more than Ga, Tenn, NC, Ala, and most other states except Fl, Tx and Calif.

Goose Creek has also played and beaten teams within their region with UT offered players like Jacob Park, Darin Smalls, Nolan Kelleher, Shamir Blackshear, etc.

Last three years, Goose Creek has placed 10 players on Division I rosters and 22 players on Div1-AA or DivII. Notables include Brandon Shell and Tramel Terry.

(In the Unreal Tournament voice) HEADSHOT!!!!

I hate that we weren't able to take this kid. I hope he has a great college career and gives UGA all they can handle every stinking year. Good luck Caleb!

Why did we turn him down? We were going to let Jabo come in, now that he is done why not Kinlaw? Especially if he really wants to be here.

because we already have 2 backs committed and Evan Berry and Powell could get snaps at RB. we also just got Justus Pickett. we need to keep the open spots for positions of greater need

I don't know if Kinlaw is still on the coaches boards. He is committed to GT but I think he would jump at the opportunity to play for UT. He seemed like he really wanted to commit earilier in the year but we had two healthy RB's committed at the time. With Paulk most likely not available in the 2014 season (redshirt) I wouldn't mind giving Kinlaw a call and see if he is still interested in being a VOL.

Good bump. Depending on where UT is with Scott, I'd like to see them show interest again in Kinlaw.

I think there are higher guys on our board and offering a scholly based on sentimentality is pointless. Besides Judd why would we pass on any kid (especially any of the kids we brought in this weekend) for Kinlaw? I think we've moved way past this kid IMO. Wouldn't take anyone off our board kid's moved on and so have we.

As much as I would like to see Caleb get that UT offer and the go ahead to commit, I think there are several backs still ahead of him on the board. Even if we tried, he may say no thanks. Could not blame a kid for thinking if I was not good enough then, I'm not now after a couple injuries to others.

Just because someone else gets hurt does not make Kinlaw a take. You are either SEC quality or you aren't. He's not better than any other back on our roster.
