I live in Mt. Pleasant, SC.

I'm not sure which of our coaches are recruiting him, I would guess Coach Stripling though.

Vols lead, Cocks far behind according to someone close2poona.

This appears to be coming straight from Poona:

Told Gerry Hamlinton of 24/7 sports, that SC is his leader.

There has been conflicting information throughout this process, though, so who knows.

That quote came from the Poona thread on Cocky Talk, by the way, in case anyone was wondering.

Never even heard of Gerry Hamlinton

Gerry Hamilton is the lead National Recruiting Analyst for 247Sports

This is twice Poona has named South Carolina the leader, once in Dec after he visited their Outback bowl practice, and now. He is on the schedule for the spring game.

Says he may not be able to make spring game, grew up watching UGA and hasn't heard much from them yet.

“South Carolina’s up first, and then it’s Tennessee,” said Ford, a four-star prospect who’s ranked by 247Sports as the nation’s No. 194 overall player and No. 17 defensive tackle in the 2014 class. “And then I’m liking Ohio State, but they haven’t offered me yet, and Ole Miss.”

On Gamecocks

“It’s the hometown team, basically,” he said. “I’ll have all the support I need, and it’s where my family could come watch me.”

on Tennessee

“I really like Tennessee,” he said. “They told me I probably have a good chance of getting some early playing time, and that’s what I want as a freshman going into college.”

“It was just a really good campus atmosphere. The stadium’s real nice,” Ford said. “(Jones) was the one that offered me. We walked on the field, and he was like, ‘I’m just letting you know you have a scholarship here, and we need to develop a good, friendly bond. Call me every once in a while when you get a chance.’”

On Ole Miss

“They just had a pretty good, strong recruiting class,” he said. “I’m really liking them. I think they’re going to probably play a couple good games this year.”

When he will decide

“I don't want to rush things,” Ford said. “I want to take my time and actually go through the process and take official visits.”

Well close2poona, what's the word. That news was somewhat indirect. It could mean that SC is first up as in the next school he will visit. What are your thoughts?

No. He's made it clear that SC is his leader.

Also from the article:

The Top247 junior defensive tackle from Hilton Head High School in Hilton Head Island, S.C., named South Carolina as his leader this week during a visit with 247Sports at his school, with Tennessee now at No. 2 and Ole Miss and Ohio State also in the picture.

There's only one way to interpret that entire quote.
