Several top programs are in contact with Frey, and he is hoping for more offers.

"I'm talking to Tennessee, North Carolina State, Michigan State and Indiana," he continued. "Those would be the top schools of those that haven't offered yet. I'm going to be visiting North Carolina State next weekend, and I need to plan trips to Tennessee and Michigan State for spring practice."

"I visited*Tennessee*a few weeks ago and loved it there," he continued. "They have a few offers out and I know I'm behind some guys there. I know those coaches from when they were at*Cincinnati. I will be visiting*Michigan State*this week, and that's another school I'd love to have an offer from. I'm willing to be patient and let the process work itself out."

Chris Frey, 6-foot-2, 215 pound junior has picked up offers from Akron, Ball State, Boston College, Bowling Green, Kent State, Northern Illinois, Ohio, Syracuse, Toledo and Western Michigan throughout the year. With summer coming up, the outside linebacker has been busy setting up his camp schedule.

“As of right now, I am going to Kentucky, Louisville, Cincinnati, Tennessee, Michigan State and Ohio State so all of the MAC can see me. I have a few more dates I am leaving open because there are a few more schools I need to talk to, like Penn State, Boston College, Indiana and Purdue.”

“I talked to the coaching staff a lot when they were at*Cincinnati,” Frey told InsideTennessee. “I went to camp there last summer and we stayed in touch. Then they went to Tennessee and started recruiting me again.”

“Tennessee has liked me for a while,” he said. “I am only at 215 pounds so they want me to get bigger for outside linebacker, but they have had some other kids commit elsewhere that they have given offers to.

“I hope to have more offers by the end of the summer, but Tennessee is definitely the top school that hasn’t offered me yet. They would really give me something to think about if they offered me. I just want to do what is best for my future.”

“I went to a junior day in Knoxville and saw one of their spring practices and had a great time,” he said. “I liked everything there a lot. Coach Elder told me that I have a good chance of getting an offer if I come back for camp this summer and perform well.

“I really enjoyed meeting all the other recruits and some of the players. I talked to Dillon Bates*quite a bit. His dad played there and he knows a lot about Tennessee so they were telling me all about it. There is just so much tradition there and everything on that campus is amazing. Going into that stadium and seeing the locker room, wow. That is really all I could say about it. It was amazing.”

“When they were at Cinicinnati, Coach Bajakian was my recruiter and when they switched over Coach Elder started recruiting me,” he said. “He started talking to me at the junior day and we have just grown closer. We talk on Facebook a lot and he called me the other day, too. He definitely wants to see me at camp.”

One of the big things to me is to be close to home,” he said. “I want to be within an eight-hour drive so my family can come see me play. My family has supported me all along and they mean a lot to me. I want them to be able to see me play.”

Hold on Chris! You may still get that Tennessee offer soon!

A lot of kids won't risk waiting. If they have an offer on the table they like, they will jump on it vs taking the chance MSU takes someone else and they lose their spot. We have to evaluate defensive players sooner or hope the guys we offer early are seriously interested.
