'14 OH DE/LB Joseph Henderson (UT Signee 2/5/14)

Yeah my Pops was a big Scout guy, for years And then he couldn't handle it anymore. Think he uses VolQuest(Rivals) now.

I'm still okay with Scout. Less hype. They aren't giving as much respect to Hurd, Kelly, and Bates, but have been strong from the beginning on our tight ends and JUCO recruits. #1 ranked class overall there too, so beyond the particular hair splitting what's the beef?

I am guessing he did not get a 4th star today? Hilarious if true! You give him MVP honors at a camp over the #1 DL in the country, and he has a decent showing at the Opening (except against the #1 OL in the country), and he is not deserving of at least a 4th star???

Yeah, 247 has far and away the best profile format.

247's 100 scale is also way better than Rivals. That 6.1 scale is garbage.

I actually prefer the 6.1 scale. 247's is fine too, but the 6.1 scale was started 20 years ago by the best talent evaluators IMO there have ever been when it comes to following football prospects. (Bobby Burton and Jeremy Crabtree of the old National Recruiting Advisor).

I just think it's kinda dumb to have a scale that stops at 6.1. I like 247's scale because it's a little more specific with their star rating. For example, you can tell 247 thinks that Davonte Lambert and TK are significantly better prospects than say, Dominique Booth even though they're all 4 star players.

I might feel differently about the 6.1 scale if guys like you mentioned were the ones doing the evaluations for Rivals.

I'm a bit surprised that he did not receive a bump. He was consistently getting the better of top talent during the camp circuits.

Having a scale from 1 to 6.1 is hilariously stupid. You can like the talent evaluators, but clearly math wasn't their strong suit. Standardized scales and measurements are always better.

I think it's fair enough. In the clips I saw he didn't lack just a counter - he basically lacked any moves. Pure speed rush which is great in camps but not so much live against SEC tackles.

Dude has a ton of potential, but that doesn't make him a 4 star. I'm glad we've got him, but he's got work to do in the weight room and with Strip.

dont see why Henderson didnt get a bump because of his size and is a pure speed rusher, yet Lorenzo Carter is ranked so high

They are the same weight too. Makes no sense man. Def makes it harder to accept about henderson not getting bumped. There had been rumblings around here carter was good but wasn't as good as advertised. I believe it.

Carter runs a 4.6 40, with a 40+ inch vertical. He's an elite project.

His ceiling is higher.

Henderson isn't coming anywhere close to those numbers.

Nice little player though.

If you're a project you shouldn't be #11 overall in the nation. Measurables are good and also serve as a good tool to measure potential. However he's getting his ass wore out bad by a 6'0 260lb linemen who isn't bad at all but definitely is not a top tier SEC LT. Also nobody was saying Henderson should be ranked as high but that he deserved a 4th star.

I can see both sides to the Henderson argument. He's a one tool kid. He has a pass rush, albeit a 4 star pass rush. I can see where that could hold him back as well.

If you changed Carter's title to ATH and just looked at a kid that was 6'5", 265, running and jumping with WRs and RBs, you see a 5 star on measurables alone.

All carter has is a pass rush too. He gets abused in the run game.

Carter MIGHT be 235. I agree that his measurables are off the charts, but it doesn't seem to translate well to the football field.

40+ inch vertical. Lol, no. Not even close.

People don't realize how rare of a measurable that is. Reported at one combine this year that 6 or 7 guys did 40 or better. You know that's bogus
