i grew up like 25 minutes from this kid, some really good hidden football talent up there, especially in the Shore Conference. Knowshon Moreno and Donnie Brown are two off the top of my head, Donnie Brown actually went to RBC as well, one of the best programs in the area.

Red Bank (N.J.) High offensive tackle Quenton Nelson is putting together a spring visit schedule, and it looks like he will be adding another school to the list.

Nelson, who is 6-foot-5, 280 pounds, received an offer from Tennessee on Tuesday as his total climbs toward 30.

“I called coach (Don) Mahoney, the offensive line coach, and he offered me,” Nelson said. “He told me they were going to be losing four linemen next year because they’re seniors, and they might even lose their left tackle, who’s a junior, because he might go to the pros.”

Nelson doesn’t know much about the Vols, but he is excited to see the campus. He plans on visiting Vanderbilt in the late spring or early summer, and is working in a trip to Knoxville, Tenn., as well.

“Coach Mahoney said he really likes me and he would love for me to come visit,” Nelson said. “I’ve seen a picture of the campus and the weight room, and it’s beautiful. I think when I go out to see Vanderbilt, I’ll probably swing by and see Tennessee.”

“I’m trying to get North Carolina and Duke in before the visits, but I don’t know if that is possible,” Nelson said. “In the summer, I would like to go see Vanderbilt and Tennessee

Perfect... that'll end his interest in Pansybilt. Couldn't have planned it better myself.

Amazing talent to go along with his size. He will be a huge get for any school. I hope he sees what he is looking for here.

From ESPN recap of Nike event Sunday.

Nelson has a mean streak
Four-star offensive guard Quenton Nelson (Red Bank, N.J./Red Bank Catholic) is one of the nicest players off the field, but there is a nastiness about his game when he is on it. The offensive line MVP played through the echoes of the whistle, and he wasn’t afraid to mix it up a little when the one-on-one battles got a little heated. Still, Nelson was quick to help opposing linemen up -- after punishing them to the turf to begin with.
