'14 NC QB Jalan McClendon

Rising junior Jalan McClendon was recently on campus and threw for offensive coordinator Jim Chaney and the coaching staff liked what they saw.

“I think I did pretty well at their camp and they really liked me,” McClendon said. “I plan on going back there in July for another camp.

“I like Tennessee overall,” he said. “It is a good school. The atmosphere really stuck out to me at Tennessee. The facilities — I really liked the facilities at Tennessee. They are definitely up there with some of the top schools in the country.”

If they don't offer Luke Ward then I want this kid for our quaterback in the 2014 class.

“Florida State*just popped into the picture,” McClendon said. “I’m supposed to go down there for a spring practice or their spring game.*Clemson,*Georgia,*LSU*andTennessee*are also recruiting me.”

Big Will on EA said we need to get after this kid. Said he was the next Cam Newton. Big Will knows his stuff.

Anyone else think this guy is legit?

Said his commitment to NCS is a soft one.

A lot of people have been asking about the quarterback situation and the Vols are certainly in it for Oklahoma native David Cornwell. It will be interesting to see what comes out of Cornwell's trip to Alabama to throw for the Tide coaches. Another name that could pop up as a possibility is NC State commitment Jalan McClendon. McClendon just committed to the Wolfpack two weeks ago and Tennessee has had some conversations with him this spring. It would be interesting to see how much McClendon would listen if the Vol staff really started to pursue him.

If Big Will, whoever the hell that is, knew his stuff, he'd be on a staff somewhere.

Recruiting kids because of callers on a sports talk show say so.

Completed 45% of his passes. 11TDs to 7INTs and a 4.9 40. I know stats are not everything. This one would be a head scratcher to me.

I would almost prefer we took Jobe at QB. He had more yards passing, more TD passes, less int's, and threw for a better %. He also rushed for more yardage. AND he is a Tennessee kid. I know stats are not everything, but McClendon looks like a reach at QB.

This is the 1st time I would look at a CBJ recruit and say "WTH"! I just don't think this kid is a very good option at QB. JMO

Agree completely this is definitely a questionable guy I trust butch completely but I hope he is seeing something im not.

Not sold on McClendon either. But Jobe?....c'mon man! If we can't get an elite QB this season then we double down next year. No reaches at QB please!

Yes, Jobe would be a massive reach. I was trying to make evident my opinion of McClendon being even more of a reach. We have taken QBs in the past and made them Safteys who looked to be better QBs than Jalan. I guess if he can play Saftey, maybe it changes things. :)
