Things like this makes me really wonder why he is taking an EE spot. Just does not make sense to me. I doubt the kid will see much action as a TFR at UT. Would rather see the coaches use the spot on a kid who WILL make an impact in 2014. JMO

Whose spot did he take? Maybe we didn't have any other eligible EEs.

If he's coming, if much rather he be an EE, I'd rather every recruit was an EE. Gives them time to get used to school, time in the weight room, time to learn the plays, and time for "player run" practice sessions.

The only thing I hate about EE is everything the kids are passing up the spring of their Senior year. It was probably the most fun I had in high school outside of game nights.

Pretty sure he was named as one of the (14) planned EE's for quite a while now. It seems the coaches are still looking to possibly take another RB, DL, or OL recruit. What if a couple of them could be an EE? Booth lost his EE spot and I think he very well could have made an impact before Moseley would. It just seems strange to me to make a kid an EE when it may be 2+ years before he is on the field.

I understand the thinking that the EE helps a kid adjust to things sooner. IF the kid is not expected to play/make an impact as a FR, I don't think it means near as much.

I see your point, but if the kid needs more work, wouldn't it make sense for him to get started ASAP? That spring practice and weight room time is almost vital in my opinion

maybe they expect him to play as a freshman. it seems like his only downfalls are weight and getting a little lost in coverage. (maybe the "all-star" game he played in used different coverages than his HS team) him being an EE gives him time to gain the weight needed, and learn the coverages.

IF there is no other options to take that EE spot, sure it does not hurt to let Moseley get to campus early. What happens when a surprise DT or RB decides Jan 1st that they want to flip to UT and they could have been an EE but we used the spot on a kid who won't see action till 2015? Do the coaches yank the rug out from under EM or does the RB who could very well see 100 carries in 2014 ends up having to wait to enroll?

Maybe they think they can teach him how to play the position? and getting him in early will be a MASSIVE step in that direction? I mean I am just spitballin here, but it makes better sense to me, than a kid this "raw" coming in August. The extra practice and strength and conditioning will pay off huge in his development....IMO.

When I look at the returning DBs and what is coming in, then look at the news on EM, I see no way he sees PT as a FR. If he does, we could be in for a rough year.

If Lambert woulda stuck we woulda had 15 EEs (assuming he qualified). I'm not 100% confident 14 is a hard number. And I think Booth is a Malone casualty.

They can't tell Moseley no, he signed a Financial Aid Agreement, which means he is guaranteed an EE spot

You may be right on Booth. Depends which story is accurate. Was he totally cut loose with the Malone commitment or was he just told he would have to wait till Feb to sign?

If I had to speculate, I'd say he was told he had to wait till Feb. Prob saw the writing on the wall at that point. Who knows if we would have ultimately let him sign?

If that is the case, I think it was a bad move. IMO it's a waste of an EE spot. Kid could very well end up a great player in a couple years. As a coach my EE's would be kids I need to get on campus because they MUST play right away. I just don't think EM is going to be expected to do that.

So what's the comparison between a Juco TE and a HS db? Low star rating?

It's JMO that neither one would do much right away. never understood the Quinn move and this one baffles me as well.

Don't really care about their star rating. If Moseley was 6'and 185-190lbs coming in as an EE at DB I would feel differently. The kid looks to need to add 20+ lbs AND be taught how to actually play the position. IMO he is not playing as a FR.

Moseley is predicted at CB if im not mistaken. We have Sutton, Foreman, Coleman, Jones (barring injury).... and who else returning? Incoming we have Payne, Moseley and Gaulden (if he ends up at CB)

If we dont see him at CB, more than likely we will see him on ST. We should see him play. And what makes you think hes not that good? His rating? Take a look at Sutton's rating and look what he did for us. Moseley is a 5.5 3*, Sutton was a 5.6 3*

Sutton came in knowing how to play DB very well. He was pretty polished as a corner. He also came in much bigger than EM.

Well I'm sure if TkJr or Bates would have been eligible to be an EE, they would have. The spring will do nothing but help Moseley even if he ends up redshirting.

I bet the coaches have a good reason for taking Moseley as an EE. Probably something to do with walk ons playing in our secondary and the overall lack of speed.

I agree it would do nothing but help him. If there were no other options to use that EE spot on, so be it. With so many kids looking to play right away now a days, I just tell myself there has to be a kid who could EE and help in 2014.

Y'all do realize this guy is gonna have the whole offseason to get bigger and improve his game right?
