2. Roderick Johnson, Hazelwood Central, OL

Johnson doesn’t have the name recognition or offer list that Bauer has, but the 6-7, 320-pounder has a chance to be a special player as a prototypical left tackle prospect.

A first-team All-Metro selection this season, Johnson already has more than 15 scholarship offers, including from Ohio State, Michigan, Florida State, Texas A&M, Missouri, Illinois, Tennessee and others.

Johnson is rated by Rivals as the 183rd best prospect in the class, while Scout rates his as the 17th best offensive tackle.

great size and seems to have aquick first step and strong motor.

And he finishes people. Does em dirty sometimes! (Slang for he really punishes people, and displays exuberant ability against the opponent for those that didn't know what i meant.)

From Mizzou Rivals -

The last time the state of Missouri had one offensive tackle listed in the Rivals250 came in 2010. This year, however, the Show-Me State has two tackles ranked that high, and Florissant (Mo.) Hazelwood Central offensive tackle Roderick Johnson is getting plenty of attention for it.

Before this week, Johnson already received early verbal offers from Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Missouri, Ohio State and Texas A&M. Starting on Tuesday, however, Johnson received two big offers in two days.

"Tennessee, I called them around one o'clock Tuesday and they offered," Johnson said. "I called Florida State today and got the big news from them."

Johnson said he hadn't head much from either school before the offers, so they came as a surprise. He spoke with Florida State offensive line coach Rick Trickett, and with Tennessee he "pretty much talked to the whole staff."

Now, Johnson is beginning to look at upcoming visits. He said Tennessee and Florida State will likely receive unofficial visits in the future. He's also looking at attending a junior day at in-state Missouri.

"I have weekly phone calls with coach (Cornell) Ford and (Josh) Henson," Johnson said. "All the phone calls I make now are just establishing relationships with coaching staffs."

"With Missouri, I plan on going there in a few weeks," he continued. "I'm not completely sure, but I'm talking about it with my friends."

The offers will likely continued for the 6-foot-7, 310-pound offensive tackle. Right now, however, Johnson said he's content to take his time.

"I'm just enjoying it right now," Johnson said.

“They’re all big right now,” he continued. “Iowa, Ohio State, Michigan State, Michigan, Texas A&M, Florida State, Tennessee, there’s a lot of big ones. Indiana, too.”

“I wouldn’t say distance is a big factor in the decision, but it is somewhat of a factor within the decision,” he admitted. “You have to have academics, that comes first. Your parents don’t want to send you somewhere that the academics aren’t outstanding.

“In the spring and summer time, I’m going to try to get in as many visits as I can,” he said. “I want to do it before the season kicks off since it’s my last high school season. I plan to sit down with my parents to talk about some traveling.”

This guy looks like a big-time player and a future Pro-Bowler.

Definitely in my top 10 that I most want to see in orange and white.

"I saw Coach 'Z' (Zach Azzanni) from Tennessee, he's one of the coaches that have been by the school. He's a real cool guy, real easy to talk to. Tennessee is one of the schools I'm listening to right now," Johnson said of the Vols' efforts.

"I'm going to make a southern swing sometime this summer, probably in June. Not to go to any camps or anything, but to take a few visits," Johnson said of his upcoming plans. "Florida State, Alabama and Ole Miss are the three places I feel like I'm going to go for sure right now."

Asked about Tennessee's chances of popping up as a stop on his travel itinerary Johnson sounded interested, but was reluctant to write it in stone. "I've been talking to Tennessee a lot, and I know they want me to get down there to campus, but right now I'm not sure. I may be able to squeeze it in when I'm down that way," Johnson said.

"It's a lot of pressure, especially when you're just 17-years old, but it's also a lot of fun, so I plan on riding it out, having as much fun with it as I can and making the best decision possible," Johnson said of his the chance of making an early commitment. "I might take it all the way out until signing day."
