'14 LA WR Cameron Sims

Cameron Sims reported a new offer from Tennessee Friday afternoon. A few weeks ago he reeled in an offer from Georgia, which rarely recruits in the state of Louisiana. Sims listed Alabama as his favorite after nabbing an offer at junior day, and the 6-4, 195-pounder hasn't revealed much to the media since. He leads top-seeded Ouachita vs. No. 4 East Ascension today in a Class 5A hoops semifinal.

His film honestly looks like a stronger Justin Hunter. I doubt he has the Olympic like measurables that J.Hunt did, but I like what I see. A true homerun threat.

If LSU offers it is over.
However, there's no getting around the one offer that's missing from Sims' collection of seven football overtures and that's LSU where he gleaned as much information possible and spent part of the day with wide receivers coach Adam Henry before having to depart back to Monroe.

"I'm feeling the same," Sims said. "I want an offer from them. It's a school I've wanted to go ever since I was little. I've seen other people go and be successful. I can see myself going there."

1. Cameron Sims, WR, Monroe (La.) Ouachita Parish
Sims came into Saturday as one of the top wide receiver prospects in the 2014 class, and left ascending after another standout camp performance. The Top247 prospect came in at 6-foot-4.25 and 199 pounds and showed excellent change of direction for his size. His ability and understanding of how to use his body to create separation impressed all day. The long-armed prospect also flashed high-point ball skills and strong hands. Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Ole Miss and a number of others are in the mix with a July visit to Tuscaloosa looming large.

Received top performer at the Mark Richt camp per 247.

new ranking – no. 93 overall (up 32 spots)
notes- sims continues to mature physically and as a wide receiver. The 6-foot-3.25, 195-pounder has flashed his strong hands, physicality, high-point ball skills and under valued change of direction ability on the june camp circuit.

I would consider Sims the 3rd take in Louisiana at WR, however LSU has already has 2 commitments at WR with 2 more higher on the board ie Quinn and Dupre plus they are pushing for Blacknall fairly hard. I think Quinn is going to announce in July or so, so at that point it will potential see where things sit.

D'Haquille Williams has committed then de-committed, but he has to be considered a one done if he even makes it to college.

It is very possible that Sims does not get a LSU offer but we will see if LSU gets bored of waiting. I would expect 1-2 good WRs left in La.

Sims is a SEC caliber player.

Why do all these WRs wanna play at LSU? Have they even been watching?

Quite a few in the NFL. If anything, the WRs there right now lack the size and/or speed. I didn't have any major problem with Mett last year, tons of dropped balls, tons. To me it was clear last year that the WR position was very weak... no height, no strength, and bad hands.

I am hopefully the new OC gets more out of the passing game, but at the end of the day... the running game should be the go to option.

yeah in a camp in athens a few weeks ago Sims showed a lot. he is definitely an sec caliber player.. it's really something just how many top wrs you guys are in on that a talent like sims may not be a take. it really seems like sims is just waiting for that lsu offer and then he would jump on board.

Malcolm Parrish held his own against him during that camp

Let him get shut down by TKJ, Berry, Payne, Tabor, McDowell. Then if he catches the ball well he'll then feel the strength of Bates, Garrett, Morgan, Mouhon, Weatherd, Sykes, Bryant, and Dews. To me I'll love to see him go to LSU and get him so confused after the game to why he didn't come to UT

Sims would be a nice pickup for anyone and has the physical tools to play with anyone. Yeah, just very WR rich state this year, I think next year too. Quinn to me is the guy, not as highly rated I believe due to skin color but nobody can stay with the kid. At LSU camp last year, he was hurt and nobody could stay even close to him.

I think LSU has it right Dupre Trey Quinn > Sims but.... don't be surprised if they do offer Sims, Sims would be nice pickup for the Vols. I actually forgot LSU is recruiting Speedy Noils as well, I don't know if he is being recruited for WR though.

Actually glad LA is so deep this year because Sims is a priority for the UA staff. If LSU gets who they want I like the chances and there were rumors he made a silent a few weeks ago to the UA staff, but seems some sites may have jumped the gun but with it looking like big Cam will end up at UA it only helps UA chances with Sims.

I also read yesterday where Blacknall has LSU at the top.

I think people were wondering if he had a commitable offer, I think that this solved things.
