'14 LA SG Jordan Cornish

Is Cornish considered an outside threat, he looks more like a slasher.

Think Josh Richardson, but current Josh, with a respectable outside shot. It has been his weakness and he has been working to improve it, same for Austin, you have to respect their shots now at least.

I think Rob Lewis once compared Cornish to a more skilled Armani Moore.

You can't judge recruiting by a high school players stats.....almost every single player that gets a div 1 offer is the best or one of the best players on his team.

So, if Martin recruited a guy averaging 5 ppg, 2 rpg, and no assists playing behind 2 5 star players, you wouldn't be on here complaining about how terrible he is, since you can't judge on stats?

Yes if a guy can't hack it in high school it's usually a pretty good indication he won't be able to hack it in college....but usually the guy is the best or one of the best players on his high school team.

So, you can use stats to say how much a player is going to suck (or how much you think he will) but others can't to say how good they think he will be? Makes sense.

What doesn't make sense? If a guy can't get court time and is not one of his teams best players.....what makes u think he will do better at the college level.

We should be only recruiting the top 1 or two players from a high school team and they will have good stats.....I could see your point if we were recruiting from one of these high school prep all star teams but we are not.

On a side note....my daughter is being recruited by a high school team.....she is in elementary-----PROUD DAD.

Future Lady Mountaineer? Has Coach Howard shaved that beard yet? :)

I only ask because I thought you had mentioned being from Maryville and Heritage used to have the better ladies program. Also my alma mater :)

I am from maryville but its not Heritage.....Heritage has been kicking butt this yr though....My daughter plays travel ball with a couple of their players younger sisters. Im not really for sure which school I want her to go too but she is excited about the opportunities.

Do you know much about the coaches in Blount County? Im trying to find out all I can about them.

No I sure don't. I know Ron Howard was the assistant for years then became head coach after I left. He is a good guy, hard worker, and all the girls seemed to like him.

Good luck with your and hers decision tho. :good!:

Edit: Rick Howard not Ron. Opie wouldn't make a bball coach. lol

Saw Cornish play last night in one of their biggest games of the season against St Aug. I was disappointed that he was ejected from the game for getting 2 techs (one for hanging on the rim and another for arguing a call) in the first half. His team Brother Martin lost the game.

I know it was a big rivalry game for him, but I hope this will teach him that when you are the most important piece on a team, that you can play with fire, but don't go overboard.

SouthernBoiNola why aren't/weren't the local schools recruiting Cornish?

because many scouts aren't impressed with the Berry's, especially Elliot. Guess i was curious being the SouthernBoiNola is in the Nola area and has more insight about the local area talent.

Ones a three star and the other is a 4 star. How are the scouts not impressed? They didn't go to camps and coaches didn't recruit them because they were virtual locks to UT.

And according to Cornish he was ejected because he told the ref that he was head butted and they found that to be arguing and ejected him.

Much the same reason many schools didn't recruit the Berry's

so are you implying that other schools/coaches have taken the CCM approach and not recruit committed players? It's just odd that local schools like LSU and Tulane didn't offer a local talent a scholarship. It seemed as if Nichols was a UT lock but he still received an offer from the local school (Memphis).

Are you trying to start some fight or something? You asked a question, I answered it, sorry if you don't like my answer.

And I never said schools stopped recruiting him because he was committed, I thought that was fairly obvious by the Berry comment I made.

Cornish is a life long UT fan and has wanted to play for Tennessee since he was a kid, that's what I was eluding to.

Okay so i direct a question at SouthernBoiNola, yet BTO decides to chime in but no big deal. Yet you reply to my question with a statement about the Berry twins as if other teams shouldn't recruit legacy recruits. I had no idea Cornish was a life long UT fan which you could have stated in your first response, but that still doesn't answer my original question intended for SouthernBoiNola
