UT offered yesterday. Really late to this one.

He picked up LSU and Bama offers back in June, from camp performances, I would assume. LSU has been named the favorite at no surprise.

Hope the offer doesn't mean we had a DE lose interest in us

Anyone reading the Hendrix articles/interviews and still think he is a 100% silent to UT is just not paying attention. I honestly think we are wide open for the last DE spot and the coaches are looking for other options.

Wow, this could mean so many things....We offered this guy this late for a reason. Maybe? No expectations at all....but think about it....why would we offer a player this late if he is announcing 23 August....Mutual interest....this is out of the norm for Coach Butch Jones.....maybe some mutual interest....we are not desperate and I believe there is more here.....

Think Tennessee offers because it is still a long way to NSD. At this point, even if a players commits elsewhere, the offer is still on the table. You might have 2 or 3 offers on the table for every spot you can fill. We can lose a commitment. We can steal one from another school. Injuries in their senior year happens. The thing to remember is the recruiting game is a very fluid situation, and until NSD, nothing is written in stone. So everyone grab a beer, enjoy some snacks, sit back, relax, and enjoy the show.

Man that sucks. Is he still a LSU lock or might you guys look elsewhere?

I am not sure, I would imagine he is still a get. We have accepted offers from others in the exact same situation ie ACL. I think Kwon Alexander had ACL surgery his senior year and he played quite a lot last year as a true freshman and even started some games. Sam Montgomery had a torn ACL his freshman year and recovered.

If he were a RB I would be more worried. LSU might want to evaluate him before they accept the offer. LSU did pass on Adam Taylor (RB) who had knee surgery his junior year, he actually had a very good senior year.

Question, if he was a LSU commit prior to the injury, would Miles still take him?

IMO, this is why you see more recruits commit earlier to get a spot in case of injury their senior year and not risk schools pulling their offers.

My guess, since I don't know if it has happened before and is pure speculation.... I would think it would depend on the injury and the situation of the player. Just remember, extending an offer does not make it commitable. You find out signing day is really just a one way commitment anyway.

Injury or no injury, there is no guarantee that the player has a spot until he is in class and on scholarship and then only for a year.

LSU has had two players which were offered that believed they had commitable offers that I remember.... Storm Johnson and Adam Taylor.
