'14 LA ATH Darrel Williams

I don't really see the downside to it. If I'm 18, I'd love to have a semester to rehab and play video games knowing I still have a full ride in Jan.

Same here. He would likely redshirt anyway next fall. Might as well save the RS and show up a semseter later.

But at the same time, we bwtter be damn sure Williams wouldnt flip to LSU if he were to commit and then they offer at RB. I just have a bad feeling with asking Paulk to greyshirt. When healthy, this kid is as good as any.

We don't have to make that determination till NSD, right? If Williams flips, we simply take Paulk right away. Btw, I'd be perfectly happy if Paulk doesn't grey shirt. I think he will be a stud and I like him rehabbing with out staff.

Its going to be a migraine trying to figure out our situation out up to NSD regardless, either way I think holding onto Paulk should be a major priority. Ray Rice Jr IMO.

I like this guy better than any other RB we have left on the board. The only thing that scares me is a late LSU offer that leaves us high and dry. Louisiana guys are very loyal to their state school.

Most Definitely. Especially with the PS4 coming out Friday. I'd be loving that, still get to play for the school you want, really not even a setback in my eyes.

Down side for him is not being with his teammates and not having the UT staff and facilities to rehab. Having a professional rehab would be much better.

He's already rehabbing somewhere else.

Doesn't change the point. He would still be better off doing the rest of his rehab here. It's the most crucial time and the staff, facilities, diet, etc. would be much better for him. There's no arguing that.

I recently mentioned the recruiting process of Darrel Williams, who has been committed to Arizona State, but may be considered a possible flip candidate to LSU. Well the Tigers did finally offer, however they offered him as an athlete instead of a running back, which has become his preferred position. What also threw everything for a loop is that Tennessee offered Williams last week at running back, so now visits are planned to Arizona State, Tennessee, LSU and Missouri. Tennessee may now actually be the best candidate to flip Williams, but if the Tigers come back with an offer to solely play running back, then chances are high that his recruiting process would end quickly. LSU is likely interested in Williams as a running back, but there's a kid named Leonard Fournette that they likely don't want to tick off.

Good input guys, I think bottom line we are going to get some really talented kids in at the position this year, we can all agree on that.

I really like the Paulk greyshirt idea and I think he will have to seriously consider that for his own benefit. I would imagine that would take the RS completely off the table for him also, barring injury later on in his career of course. I envision a scenario where he would greyshirt/rehab and enter UT ready to contribute immediately.

My only other thought would be if the staff was intent on landing 3 immediate contributors at RB this class, say they landed both Williams and Law, would that possibly cause Paulk to reconsider us at all?

Just thinking out loud (on my keyboard) not trying to stir up controversy or anything.

The downside is when it's time for Paulk to actually go on scholarship and for whatever reason, it does not happen. A GS is not a sure scholarship. Paulk and his family need to really consider that before jumping at it if it indeed his only option to attend UT after the injury. Kids heal at different rates. Kid could very well be good to go mid way through next year. Could be 2 years or more before he is 100%. It's alot easier for people to say "it's no big deal if he takes a GS" if they have no skin in the game.

Yes there are potential downsides. I didn't really mean there are no downsides whatsoever. I'd argue there are more upsides than downsides.

Let the coaches handle Mr. Paulk's situation and please get Mr. Williams to be a Vol. We need both along with Jalen. That is what you need to win championships each year - great RB's.

I think the coaches need to play it safe here. Get the 1st OV from this kid and try and get him to commit right after. IF he wants to take an OV to lsu before deciding, I'd look elsewhere for a RB IF they plan on taking one. I think it's pretty clear lsu is in the drivers seat. I don't think it matters if they get Fournette or not. Williams will play RB there. They are just not wanting to call him a RB at this point as another article mentioned.

This kid looks like a monster. One of the better RB videos I've seen this year. I don't understand how it took SEC schools so long to get in on him.
