'14 JUCO WR Eric Lauderdale (previous UT commit)

“I like Florida, they are a good program. That’s one of my favorite schools. I was kind of waiting for that for a while, because they were sending me mail since last year, but I never heard from them on the phone until probably two weeks ago. Joker Phillips called me and said he was going to keep in touch with me and he offered me today.”

While he still considers himself a Volunteers commit, Lauderdale, a May graduate, says he will give others a shot to land his signature in February.

“I’m going to take my other visits, so I’m going to see. I’m committed, but I’m still kind of looking at the same time. It’s like a soft verbal I would say.”

Obviously going to be hard to keep this kid, especially if the QB play doesn't show promise toward next year. Jmo

Imagine that, the real bricks will stay. If your favorite school is the Gators I doubt you will want to play in Orange. Wonder if he just wanted to get in the national spotlight by committing to TN?

Prepare for bashing and hate tweets Mr. Lauderdale.

If I was a WR, Florida would be one of the lasts spots id go. I think Chad Jackson was the last 1st round draft pick, many years ago and he didn't make it long at all. So enjoy going nowhere if he switches on us.

I don't mid him looking and being honest. Kid ha to decide what's best for him, but at same time his spot would now be up for grabs as a soft verbal.

So much for being a VFL.

Losing both JUCO WR's, I don't like the sound of that. Unless of course it means we get Malone, Berrios, and more linemen.

Agree. Butch will have to continue recruiting for WR, which he will. I'll take Malone over this guy if we can only take one.

Biggest kink in Butch's armor right now IMO is his refusal to play a freshman QB in the USA game. Needed to get some game experience on the fly for our freshman backup. Didn't happen. Now we're fingers crossed that Worley doesn't get hurt.

I have no desire to get left high and dry in Jan or Feb. I'd recruit over him/other positions if I were Butch. As others have mentioned, we have a lot of young talent at WR to fill the void.

I'm not trying to be mean or disrespectful, but situations like this have left us in the state we are in roster wise. No more living on hopes and dreams. If he takes visits he's no longer a commit at that point, and it's time to replace him. We gave the kid a big opportunity when many others like FSU wouldn't, and if he desires to play in a FL school then bye bye Lauderdale. The time for being polite to these guys has passed. Either you're on the bus on you are going to be left behind. No more waiting to the last second to receive the shaft. I'm tired of seeing the same crap each week because we don't have talent to compete. It's time UT steps up and stops the BS of waiting for guys. There is a lot of talent out there, and I for one am tired of letting it slip by as we wait for guys who end up going to our rival schools. Go get guys they want to be part of UT and want to be the reason we "rise to the top."

Point taken, but Percy Harvin......was a 1st rounder. Urban actually has a decent # of WR's still in the pros from UF. Not household names but off the top of my head:

-Andre Caldwell, David Nelson, Louis Murphy, Riley Cooper.

Nope. Not at all. Kid is solid and will be one heck of a playmaker for us

Riley Cooper. Now that's a quality young man. Great person. Not quite as great as Aaron Hernandez, but he will get there.

Can't worry much about it. Consider him back on the market and recruit WR's like we need at least 2-3 more.

Landing Berry & Malone would sure help.

Yeah, that would make huge difference. If one of the freshman would have taken a few snaps against USA then they would get into the UGA/USCe/Alabama game and be much better/composed/more comfortable!?! Their performance if they get in against one of the powerhouses on our future schedule will be basically exactly the same whether they took snaps against USA or not.
