'14 JUCO RB Akeem Judd

I read somewhere along the lines that he has had some nagging injuries. We love to take injured RB's this year it seems.

When you look more closely at the numbers Judd put up last year, they turn out to be pretty mediocre. Note that of his 2 best performances, one came against a club team (Chattahoochee Tech).

Judd didn't play against Snow or Dean for some reason. Against Navarro in a bowl game, he ran for 27 yards on 10 carries. So in the 7 actual juco games he played last year, Judd rushed for 385 yards & 4 TDs on 70 carries (5.5 ypc). Versus juco opponents other than Lackawanna he ran for just 230 yards on 60 carries (3.8 ypc).

I can't figure out why Judd is so highly regarded unless it's purely based on his size & raw skills, as his actual production at the juco level has not been impressive.

Your guess is as good as mine. I'm not thrilled, but I'm not a talent evaluator either

He got hurt early in the season. He sub[ a 4 star player who signed with Auburn out of high school] has played really well. So he finds himself being a back up, because of his early injuries and the other player taking advantage of his injury.

At least that is what I have heard.

Only reason I can see is because of his size. At almost 220LBS, you would think he would be capable of carrying the ball 20-25 times a game w/out issue. As you mentioned, he may only get 3 yards a carry. If the staff thinks he can play at UT, I guess we have to go with that. I don't think he is a better back than Lane, Paulk, or Hurd. I could see him being comparable to Hill. Serviceable, but not a feature type back.

Honestly have fears of this guy being a bust. And we can't afford to be taking juco rbs that aren't early enrollees.

I'd much rather us, seeing the shortage of spots, not use one on a questionable prospect, and instead try and get Thig and Gillespie on Racean Thomas or Joe Mixon. We are going to need that Hammer/Anvil combination in the SEC. And you can see what injuries can quickly do to a team like UGA, who had two stellar backs.

This staff has proven so far to be great evaluators, so I'll trust them on this one, I think they've earned that. Jmo

I may be mistaken but hasn't Judd put up decent numbers the last couple weeks?

Lane is always injured and has been suspended, so who knows how much he really contributes next year. Paulk is done for next year, so you can't really count him . So our of the 3 backs you listed that leaves a true freshman Hurd, who not to be a nega vol but has a history of being banged up and missing games.

he doesnt have multiple SEC offers bc he sucks

Sarcasm?

Lol if healthy he is better than Hill and Lane. Look at his first year. If the staff feels his injuries aren't much of a concern, then I trust them

I understand that injuries to Hurd & Paulk come into play. I was speaking more toward skillset. IMO, they are both better RBs than Judd. I think Lane is as well. If the staff thinks he is the back they stand the best chance of getting, then we welcome him and hope for the best. IMO there are better RBs available.

I don't know that there's a better RB available that could carry the ball 25 times in a SEC game next year and be productive. You may find a HS back with better upside, but IMO the staff needs to add a SEC capable back.

I think the fact that the staff was on him hard before his commitment, and didn't let up one bit after his commitment shows how they feel about Judd.

Yes sarcasm

Apparently didn't play to well yesterday on the limited carries he had. Still a little banged up, but was said that he ran high, not behind his pads, and was not explosive.

BTO it's nice seeing you get into the UT football action a lot lately. Your services for UT basketball are much appreciated
