The nations top-ranked junior college running back is still committed to Ole Miss, but the question could be, for how long?
Akeem Judd, a 5-foot-11, 219-pound running back from Georgia Military College, drew some attention on Twitter recently with a heavy dose of positive Tennessee tweets. He told The Clarion-Ledger Wednesday afternoon that Tennessee was making a heavy push for him.
Tennessee is recruiting me really hard, Judd said. Theyve said pretty much Im the running back they need.
Judd chose Ole Miss over Tennessee after visiting both of the schools over the summer. The big reason why he picked the Rebels over the Volunteers was his bonding time with Ole Miss players such as Robert and Denzel Nkemdiche.
But since committing to Ole Miss, Tennessee has maintained constant contact. Interestingly enough, Ole Miss hasnt.
Judd talks to Ole Miss running back coach Derrick Nix on Twitter, but said he hasnt heard from Coach Freeze in a minute.
I cant even remember the last time I talked to him, he said. Its been a long time.
Judd hasnt had the season he hoped for or expected. Hes suffered from turf toe and a shoulder injury that has limited his playing time. In his absence, former Auburn signee Jovon Robinson has emerged as the nations most productive junior college running back.
Its taken Judd some time to get used to Robinson taking the starting role, but hes seen his playing time increase as hes gotten healthier.
Judd hasnt visited any of the schools this season because his team plays on Saturdays. He is hopeful to take some visits after the season and plans to end the process on National Signing Day. Hell be a May graduate.
