"I know they have a great program and a great fan base but what really stuck out to me was they really needed linebackers and I'm someone who I know I can come in and step up and that's what got me really interested in Tennessee," Weatherd said. "Then, first, it's the SEC. Secondly, it's a big atmosphere and thirdly it's away from home. I've never been to Tennessee at all."
"Linebackers are a key necessity of the defense and they are like the quarterbacks of their defense. So, since there's a need that's definitely where I want to go," Weatherd said. "They told me they need a juco linebacker and they feel like I'm the right guy."
"They all preach the same thing. They're all about character. Character comes first and if you have a bad character then you have a bad reputation," Weatherd offered. "And they've preached that a lot to me. Coach Jancek's a great guy, laid back and he has a great philosophy and he wants to win and he has a goal."
"I want to use this second opportunity to the fullest," Weatherd said. "When I talked to my cousin Jeremy Beal he let me know what I needed to know. That's what really had me gong. He really gave me inspiration and told me I had talent and he even said I have more talent to him. I want to use this second opportunity to be known and play to the best of my ability. I thank God for the second opportunity and if wasn't for him I'd be done with football by now."
