I think they are going to look into it, I wouldn't rule anything out right now. I'm not entirely familiar with his situation but from what I understand he got cleared of any major wrongdoing in all that mess.

Another name worth watching over the next few weeks I think. Former 5 star player currently playing at East Mississippi C.C. Hoping CDT has some connections at the Mississippi JUCOs after coaching at USM and with his Director of Bball operations having big time connections in the JUCO ranks.

I've mentioned this name a few times, but according to Rob Lewis he thinks Tyndall and staff will look into him, so I think a thread is appropriate.

Pollard was a 5* McDonald's All-American coming out of high school, ended up signing with Alabama. He's one of those guys that probably should've left the state and gotten away from everyone he knew just about, but didn't.

His mother, Jessie Mae Brown Pollard, was arrested and charged with kidnapping a 6-year old girl over a land dispute with the child's mother. Pollard was later charged with conspiracy to commit kidnapping and he left Alabama in June.
It didn't get much easier from there. With his mother unwilling to absolve him of his role in the kidnapping, Pollard was ultimately forced to testify against his mother to avoid potential prison time. In exchange for testifying against his mother, Pollard will avoid prosecution if he stays out of trouble for the next two years. His mother was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
While his family's legal issues played out very publicly, Pollard was still trying to keep his basketball dreams alive. After leaving Alabama, he landed at East Mississippi Community College in Scooba. It wasn't the easiest transition for him, but he worked hard on the basketball court to forget everything going on in his personal life.

There's no doubting the talent and potential that is there, it simply comes down to the reward/risk potential and how Tyndall feels about if the young man has learned from his mistakes.

Considering the holes in our frontcourt though it's hard to imagine Tyndall and staff not at least doing their homework on Pollard.

Has he listed any schools he's intrested in? Also how many years does he have left of eligibility?

Should have 2 years left, technically 3, but 2 to play 3.

Troy, Kentucky and Missouri were the main 3. Kentucky doesn't appear likely now that they've returned the Dream Team, and Missouri losing Haith likely knocks them out.

Get in there soon and I like our chances verse Troy!

Immediately signing a player who was charged with kidnapping does not seem consistent with his pledge not to recruit thugs at his press conference..... I hope we have other options......I prefer Cofer or someone else that will not embarrass the University.....

Looking at the possibility of going from potentially Reese & Pops at the 4&5 to Pollard & Ellis makes me smile.

Sometimes you gotta take risks on some guys to win now, if that's what Tyndall is willing to do he could shock the hell out of some people next year.

If he could pull: Suarez, Paige and Carmichael from USM...and then land Punter, Ellis and Pollard from the JUCO ranks.

You're looking at:

Thompson/Suarez
Hubbs/ Paige
Richardson/ Punter
Pollard/ Davis/Moore
Ellis/ Pops

That could be a very good lineup IMO, and would be fun as hell to watch.

What about Ellis who was involved in the Cincy/Xavier brawl? Or was arrested for a fight in a nightclub?

I'll trust the coach if this is what he chooses to do, Pearl gambled with a lot of guys and won big. If Tyndall can do the same he will be thought of very positively.

He as supposedly cleared of wrong doing. Testified against his mother. I believe in second chances.

Wasn't charged with kidnapping. Was charged with conspiracy to commit kidnapping and was not convicted of that. Looks like his involvement was going to pick up someone who had broke down and took her to where she needed to go. He learned of the kidnapping after it was too late and actually testified against his mother.

His mother seems to be a POS, but I'm not sure I'd label this kid.

With that group, I think you would rarely see Pops on the floor. He would probably just go small while Ellis was out, and rotate in Davis and Moore.

He was not cleared of conspiracy to committ kidnapping charges...He recieved a defferred prosecution & is on probation for two years so if he gets a jaywalking ticket the DA can try him on the charges and he could get up to 25 years in jail.... We can do better than this Yahoo.... If his judgement is bad enough to get involved in something like this how could he ever be trusted.... We are not talking about a frat fight or DUI ...I believe in second chances as well but not for murder or felonies that carry 25 years in prison......If everbody deserves a second chance then why is Jerry Sandusky in jail.... Let him get his second chance somewhere else....

I thought a thug was someone who went out of their way to find trouble. Not someone who made a mistake and is trying to do right now. Both guys mentioned from what in have read are trying to do right now. Second chances are for everyone. I'm sure there are a few thugs posting in these forums. Using words offensively is the same as using your fist.

Has the young man walked the "straight and narrow" at the community college. Sounds like he has had a troublesome upbringing.

Agree, that's my bad. Pollard is more than capable of playing the 5 on most nights, so you'd likely see him slide to the 5 when Ellis went out, and Davis/Moore/Reese play the 4.

Like you said, that would be a VERY exciting rotation to watch. Man, I just got my hopes up!
