'14 JUCO F Devonta Pollard

Pollard has a lot of scholarship offers. I imagine we'll see him signing somewhere in the next week.

Care to list them?

Only one I know of is Troy.

Had an offer from Missouri and Kentucky, however Missouri lost the coach that offered him, and Kentucky no longer has an available scholarship.

He still has an offer from Missouri until the new coach takes it away which is unlikely. He still has an offer from Kentucky say they can make room. He just got an offer from Nebraska has plans to visit there. Louisiana Tech has offered him as well as Troy.

No an offer is not still valid with no coach in place, and neither is one without an available scholarship, that's laughable. Try to commit to Missouri right now and see what he's told. Try and commit to Kentucky and same thing, that's like saying every football recruit with an offer from Tennessee could've accepted and Butch would've made room.

He has committable offers from Troy, La Tech and Nebraska from what I've gathered.

Link to him saying he plans to visit Nebraska?

When you see a guy transferring out of Kentucky and him going there then you will know he did indeed have an offer. The point was Kentucky and Missouri are strong competition and believing that either have turned their back on a player of his ability is something you may choose to believe if you want to. I personally think he could easily end up at either school within the next two weeks. I don't see where we've offered so we may not want him either.

Where did you see a visit to Nebraska was happening?

Well according to the writers that cover KY, they are no longer recruiting him per Cal, not sure what else you need to hear? Are you familiar with Kentucky's front court next year? They're already trying to figure out how Poythress or Lee are gonna get minutes, adding pollard makes ZERO sense.

As for Missouri, what happens if they hire a coach who's a no nonsense kind of guy and doesn't want to take a risk on Pollard? Assuming he still has an open spot there isn't very smart IMO.

As for deciding within the next 2 weeks, he has to decide within the next 3 weeks at the most, so not really going out on a limb there...it's not like he has 6 months to decide.

I believe we have plenty of "perfect souls" on this board who want to see this kid in prison with his mother. I want to see him at Tennessee :salute::salute::salute:

What risk is UT shouldering for this guy? If he violates his probation he could be facing major time. Do you think a kid who testified against his mother and has spent some time at CC trying to play ball for his future is going to throw it away? And let's say he does something stupid, he is probably going away for a long time. What does UT have to worry about? If this kid so much as farts near a cop he could be done...I'd say he is a pretty safe bet.

I think many would be surprised to research how backwards we view recitivism. We tend to be ok with giving second chances to people who are incredibly likely to re- commit similar crimes, while wanting to throw the book at people who are statistically very unlikely to be charged again.

Similarly, many would be surprised at how easy a kidnapping charge is to back in to.

Just my two cents.

I don't think Punter is a long shot at all, I would say very good chance he's a Vol.

With Ellis, once again I don't think he's a long shot either, biggest competition could be grades. If he can get qualified he very well could be a Vol.

Pollard is probably the biggest long shot, it's not really known if Tennessee is gonna reach out or recruit him. If they do I think they've got a decent chance, but too early to know for sure if Tyndall is gonna make a run at him.

Yeah that was probably worded poorly. I meant that as a group its a long shot to get all 6 of them w those last 3 being a the hardest. individually the order of pollard hardest, ellis next & punter the best shot of the 3. Would be great if that could workout that way though.

I've honestly never heard Pollard's name mentioned as being under serious consideration to come to Tennessee. If we get him were really a top three SEC team on paper. He would really shore up the talent level. I would love for him to be a Vol haven't heard anything about him even considering us or we considering him. With Tyndall things can happen in a hurry so always hope.

After watching this guys highlights, it makes me appreciate guys that can go in and finish strong with a dunk on the inside instead of blowing bunnies like Maymon did most of the year.

Texas A&M working hard on him has new Assistant Stansbury on the job trying to get him there. I wish we were trying but haven't heard anything about Tennessee being involved.

If Maymon had half the hops Devonta did, you would see Maymon cram it.

Rick Stansbury agrees to take assistant coaching role at Texas A&M - The Dispatch

I verified it when I saw the post just out of my own curiosity....FWIW above is the link halfway down is what the poster was referring to in his post.

People interpret things differently, but I didn't take that article saying one can anticipate he'll recruit Pollard as saying, "Texas A&M working hard on him".

A&M wasn't recruiting him at all iirc, so very well could be their AD or president has said no to bringing him in. That wouldn't change by hiring an assistant coach, at least I wouldn't think.
