Maybe, but Auburn paid Gene Chizik almost as much as Mac Brown. Also, I don't get the impression that Gus is as motivated by money than some coaches.
Malzahn is more of a teaching and innovating coach...in Austin you have to be astute in the political glad-handing with boosters and other influential alumni...Malzahn coaches circles around Mack Brown, but would be filling big shoes in that required area...and Gus's wife is a major liability in that department btw...he ain't going anywhere

Hijacked this thread long enough with Auburn coaching salaries. My final thoughts on AU recruiting finish as of early Dec. and I still think Lambert sticks with UT -
We have 18 commits and sign up to 25
19) Prestwood
20) Bessant (flip from Bama)
21) Evans
22) Russell
23) Andrew Williams
24) Rudolph (my surprise pick)
25) One more S, LB, or DL (best available)
"Elsewhere on the junior college front, Tennessee's top junior college players continue to be recruited by Auburn. DaVonte Lambert maintains he is solid with the Vols even after his visit to Auburn over the weekend and Tennessee coaches will see him tomorrow at some point. Lambert again told Volquest.com on Tuesday night he is solid and has no plans to give Auburn a look.
Butch Jones will save his in-home visit until next week with Lambert."

There's a lot of Talent in Texas but I heard something about recruits from Texas that made alot of since to me. All of the football players in Texas are coached and trained at an elite level for high school. So when a kid is coming out of Texas and has been in a college level S&C program since middle school, it kind of a what you see is what you get.(As far as physical strength goes, not coaching)

Have you heard anything further regarding Shaun Hamilton possibly showing interest in Auburn?
I think he tried to flip during the weekend of Iron Bowl. Unlike Chizik and Trooper, Gus will cut bait when he thinks AU is being played by a recruit. Similar to Josh Casher who flipped to bama, but wanted to flip back to Auburn.

I played high school ball in Texas and I believe this to be true as well.I've heard the same thing. Kids in Texas sometimes have already maxed out their potential in high school.
