'14 IL RB Chris James

If I'm not mistaken, that's one of the first times I've heard CBJ comment on last year/last staff, at least that I can recall. I know it's through a recruit, but for some reason I enjoyed hearing CBJ's second-hand comments about losing games we shouldn't have.

I hope CBJ can win those games and also WIN some games we shouldn't, as well.

Yep! We had some games we shouldn't have lost. Looking back it was absolutely the best thing that could've happened for our football program at the time.

“Coach (Jones) told me flat out, ‘We lost some games last year we shouldn’t have,’ and it seems that they’re determined to turn the whole program around,” James said. “It’s great to see that the whole school and all the players are determined to win.”

CBJ doesn't "get" Dooley's process.

This kid really reminds me of Isaiah Pead. And I hate saying that because Pead played with Jones at UC and now people will think I’m saying he looks like a player that Jones had at another school. But he looks like Pead to me. The way he cuts, the way he breaks that first tackle, the way he explodes out of a cut. Could be why there’s so much mutual interest.

According to McShay, Rajion Neal is a Pead clone too. Crazy how everyone is Pead all of a sudden. But dude was a baller! Hopefully we can get James.

I think the entire college football industry recognizes we lost games that we should not have lost. They also acknowledge Sunseri,

Rip Ryan.

Impossible. Pead cuts into traffic. I would love to see Neal play with as much violence.

THIS. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. If Neal would run with a mean streak, he'd be one of the best in the SEC. Kid is built like a truck, fast as all get-out, and can catch the ball out of the backfield. All traits that NFL coaches want in a guy. For him to make the jump, he'll have to take it to some guys and prove that he can run outside, and punish guys between the tackles.

Yep. I’m hoping he figures out this is a contract season.

I didn't say that I agreed with it. I just said McShay tweeted it. I like Neal but he's def not physical enough north/south

I didn’t figure you did. McShay says some oddly homerific things about UT players sometimes.

And I went back and checked Paulk’s film. Same kind of balance and gap-smacking. Definitely traits they are looking for in RBs.

For sure. I really like Paulk as well. He should have a big year this fall.

CBJ prefers the high road.

He was a lot better as a freshman when it came to natural running. The past two years it's seemed like he was thinking a lot while running. Lane was the same way. I wish they would run with eyes first personally.

Hill looked great in that regard during the spring game. He found the lb or DB several times and went right at him. It's been so long since I've seen that, it jumped out at me.

As much as this can mean from a guy sitting on his couch, Neal runs soft. All dainty and whatnot.

"Chris James update

Spoke with Niles (Ill.) Notre Dame RB Chris James tonight and he said he is eyeing that Oct. 5 home game weekend for a possible official visit to Tennessee. That date is not finalized yet, but looking over the schedules that is the date he has identified as potentially being a good weekend to take his official. He wants to get official visits to his top three - Tennessee, Pitt and Michigan State - all done in September and October."
