He got live game reps lol. If he was ready to step up and take over, he would have showed it. Yes, he showed potential, but he wasn't there yet. I'm in no way saying he isn't a good player. The facts are there. Let's just agree to disagree. Jeez...why are so many so damn argumentative and jumpy?
Because I voiced my opinion, based on what I saw this year, and I can see why Hendrix is upset enough to transfer. I hope he doesn't, but I also hope the staff does a better job getting the 2nd team guys some valuable reps. Seems like Hendrix realized that if this trend continued he'd be getting sparse reps while more and more talent poured in.

If you are in his shoes, you'd probably be feeling the same way. This wasn't a "normal" situation. Practically the entire DL left/graduated last year, and we had to rely on a lot of young players...of which Hendrix was one many of us were counting on to improve the DE situation.

I simply think he should have gotten more reps, which would have let Barnett play harder when he was in.

WAIT A SECOND!!! What does any of this have to do with Sherirlom Jones' interest in us and vice versa. Stay focused VN!

Took a wrong turn, did you, Otis (this is the HENDRIX thread)? Friends should never let friends drink and...post.

I played baseball in college. Everyone is promised this and that...same for me and baseball. When it doesn't happen you can either choose to work harder and get to where they can't keep you off the field or quit. He made his decision. I don't fault him either way. I would love to see him stick around...one of my favorite recruits. Nothing is ever going to be given to you in life, you have to earn it. We just see the situation differently...no biggie.

BTW, I don't remember Barnett ever not playing his ass off whenever he was on the field...

Umm...you're on the Dwayne Hendrix page and not on Sherridon Jones. Not sure if you're trying to be funny or not... :)

It was an attempt to be funny since we never seem to discuss the subject of the thread title here in the RF aaaaand it evidently went over like a fart in the diving helmet. Lol, fail.

All I can say is...obviously our highest rated DE recruit last year cleared out his locker for this very reason. I care more about that than your lousy opinion.

Highest rated but not our best...our coaches have a job of developing the players and putting the best ones on the field...let our coaches do their job and concentrate on yours...which seems to be be whining and complaining at every turn. :cray:

A couple have touched on it already but....

Volnation has a very big habit of taking message board speculation from fake insiders as fact.. (I'm talking generally, not just the latest rumors). And I'm talking even before the Gruden crap.

This stuff may be true, but let's not jump to conclusions and bashing until we hear something legit.

Wait... VN jumps to conclusions based on speculation and rumor?

TRAITOR ALERT!

Grab your pitchforks and torches, men!

I'm simply saying what Butch himself stated many times this year. That the only way to really tell if a player is going to step up is to give them live game reps. I'm also saying that regardless, playing the starters practically 100% of the time is just bad practice.

They aren't going to have the same energy in the 3rd and 4th Qtrs, as they would if the coaches had given them periodic rests. Janzek chose to play those guys that much....not because of lack of depth. But because he wanted to keep his best players on the field as much as possible.

Obviously affected Barnett and Maggitt in overtime against SC. Barnett was so tired he had trouble climbing off what was left of Dylan Thompson.

Anyone who expects everyone on the team to be happy and content has never played football... Or ever experienced relationship dynamics in a group larger than 2 people

Who says he wasn't? That's just an assumption on your part. CBJ and Bajakian planned to sit Dobbs this WHOLE YEAR...and I bet they are kicking themselves for that same kind of decision...keeping a player on the bench when it turns out he/they could have really helped the team win more games this year.

If Dobbs had started the season he would have picked up where he left off in the Spring and we likely would have beaten both UGA and UF, and who knows if it would have mattered against Ole Miss. Our defense made them go 3-and-out 7 times in a row! It was only because our offense couldn't give them a rest, that Ole Miss finally broke the game open.

So, the decision to bench one player had a considerably negative impact on the team's fortunes this year. Not saying Hendrix would have had the same impact, but the point is that even the coaches themselves botch these kinds of decisions from time to time. How many other players rode the bench way too much this season?

On the Dobbs issue, it's been stated many times that he was being redshirted because that was an agreement made with his parents. Once the injuries occurred, his parents gave the blessing to burn his redshirt.

Now, carry on.

Yep... Us fans know about .001% of things going on with the team as a whole.

He's staying

Na, he gone

I'm not sure if I have these in order or not.
carry on.

Big big loss. One of my favorite recruits from last year. A ton of potential, and was looking forward to him playing with Barnett down the road.

There was at least talk for a while that UT wanted Hendrix to add weight and play DT. Maybe that is the issue? Maybe he wants no part of that. Kind of like the Jason Carr situation.
