he decided to pay his way through the first semester. we're still waiting to see if he gets his scholarship in Jan. the typical grayshirt doesnt enroll until Jan, when they are put on scholarship

Gray shirting would help the numbers for 2014, but count against the numbers for the 2015 class. It would be best to get him on campus for rehab, get settled in for college life and academics, get mental reps and bond with teammates. Paulk, as many freshmen take a redshirt anyway so sign him for 2014, lock in his commitment and have him ready for 4 years beginning in 2015.

Another way to look at it is we definitely need another RB in this class now. Really after Lane next season who knows. Hopefully its Hurd but say he has lingering Shoulder issues that puts us in dangerous shape, especially if Lane doesnt stay heslthy then you got Smith, Hill and Pickett. Grayshirting Paulk would be like bringing in a really good RB for 2015, which who knows who in next years class would be interested or if they had plans on say taking two next year they could be real selective and take one. Plus he would come in in Jan 2015 and go through Spring Practice. Several ways to look at it and if we get Williams thoat is 3 RB's that have great potential and wanna be Vols. Jmo
