Good job on the info.:hi: Course a few of those teams also have QB's that can and will get yards with their feet. I was talking tailbacks. Plus AU nor UK could do much of anything last year as they combined to win 5 games. USCe wouldn't be on that list if Lattimore didn't get hurt

All very true and also true is the fact that out offense has been very pass heavy. However in 2011 after all games were played Tn only averaged 90+ yards a game rushing that's it.. Out goes T. Poole the lead rusher and everyone was thinking the rushing game would be just as bad if not worse in 2012. In comes new running backs coach Coach Graham and at the end of the year we averaged 166 yards rushing a game. Yes it needs to get better but going from 90+ a game and losing leading rusher one year to going 166 a game the next year is a vast improvement!!! It should also show recruits that Tennessee has a RB coach that can improve their skills and prepare them for the next level. Everyone in here seen the vast improvement as the year went on how the RBs finally quit dancing around and started to hit the holes running hard through arm tackles and getting more yards because of it. Coach Graham coached them up and improved their skills and it showed. If he can do that in his first year then it's pretty safe to say that this coming year those same 2 RBs will be even better.

Also we were up there in yards per rush as well
[*]Texas A&M - 5.9
[*]Alabama - 5.6
[*]Georgia - 4.9
[*]TENNESSEE - 4.7
[*]Florida - 4.5
[*]Miss. St. - 4.4
[*]LSU - 4.3
[*]Auburn, Kentucky, Ole Miss, & Vandy - 4.1
[*]Arkansas - 3.9
[*]Mizzou - 3.7
[*]S. Carolina - 3.7

And before you add your C. Patterson comments R. Neal averaged 4.5 and M. Lane averaged 5.5 all can be verified at ESPN that's where these stats came from

And while I agree the injury to Lattimore hurt S. Carolina they still shouldn't be dead last in the SEC in yards per rush. I'm willing to wager they weren't dead last when Coach Graham was there. Coach Graham has already proven he can make RBs better at the game and while I know some recruits don't bother to look or care there's still lots of recruits that will look at a coaches history and compare what the stats were before the coach got there and what they are now while he is there. As well as what a teams stats were after their future positional coach left a team i.e. S. Car. dead last in yds per carry. Like I said I know some won't look or care but a lot do research it to make sure the positional coach their about to have has a proven track record of making their players better so they have a better shot at making it to the next level. Then add that with the fact he played in the NFL and knows what it takes to get there and you're going to see more and more RBs come here. Good example is all of the the stud RBs for the '14 class that are already very interested in coming to Tennessee. You couldn't say the same thing about this years class the same time last year. But after Grahams first year the '14 class seen the improvement and seen how he made the RBs better, and so now you have interest and a lot more RBs interested than we have seen in years past. So calm down, it's ok, at least we are making improvement and getting better, and the running game has already proven it's getting better on the field, in the stats, and in future RB recruit interest.

Good point. But we sometimes forget how many rushing yards Patterson got for us.

Many teams find ways to get the ball in the hands of their playmakers...end arounds, reverses, wildcat, etc. They are still rushing the football. We could easily make the argument against teams that have a DT QB who gains many yards scrambling or running the zone read. So, the argument about many of our rushing yards being from CP is not justified. It's like saying a team really only rushed for 75 yards the whole game, if you take away that one 80 yard run...it still counts. Not being argumentative with you either vol2002...just sayin'.

Treyvon was here for Junior day last weekend with Ryan Jenkins...

"We hung with (running backs) coach (Jay) Graham a lot," Paulk said. "We talked to coach Jones and toured the facilities like the weight room. They showed us the whole nutrition plan. We toured the academic places so it was real nice."

"They taught me more about the offense," Paulk said. "They showed me how it's going to work and how they will get people involved. They also taught me that it's like a family around here."

"I'm really feeling it at Tennessee," Paulk said. "They are out in front right now. I like all the people and it's a good experience for me. It's a real good opportunity for me. It's close to home and it's in the SEC. I'm liking it a lot and they do play against the best."

Several of the new signed Volunteers gushed over new head coach Butch Jones. Paulk spent some time with the top Vol and felt like he knows what he's talking about and they could relate to each other.

"He's a real cool guy," Paulk said. "I just felt really comfortable around him. I feel like I could talk to him about anything. Just a real cool guy and he kept it real with me. He let me know that running back is a position they are hurting at and that I could come in early and make an impact." "It no doubt appeals to me," Paulk said. "It's major and I want to come in and play early. I feel like I can make an impact because I'm a hard worker."

im glad were leading on more than one RB already

Agree 100%. We can't miss like we did this year. We got Jabo, but he was a Vol and would have waited till the last second to flip to Tennessee. We need a couple of 200lb RBs in this class. CJG has to recruit better.

Don't want to be a debbie downer, and maybe it is just sour grapes after yesterday. But what these kids say about loving UT and CBJ doesn't seem to mean much when the Bama's, AU's, and now Ole Miss's come calling.

That's why we have football season to change their minds about all of that a good product on the field along with a good sells man will go a long way. We don't need 10 wins just a good season with a team that actually looks to be improving unlike last season where they seeming regressed everywhere but running the ball.

Its been very evident since day one on the job, that Butch Jones is very open about sharing info with Hubbs and VQ.
