'14 GA RB J'Vonte Herrod

My guess is that my evaluation skills are not nearly as good as 99% of the posters on this board.

With that said, does Herrod look any better than Tom Smith or Alden Hill coming out of HS? Just from memory, he doesn't seem to be substantially better. However, my recall is poor these days.

Would it be premature to say that we are going to be moving on from Paulk? If any of this is true, and our recent interest and being name leader for Law, I don't see how it works. No way we take more than 3 RBs in this class - too many other needs.

I'll say this. This staff has fallback options in spades. What a change from previous years.

Pretty sure there was a quote from Paulk saying he was promised his spot was 100% his per the staff even after the injury. Things change I guess, but I hope they do not. Kid wanted to be a Vol, committed to the staff, and should be in Orange.

We said we would honor his scholarship. I bet it's through grey shirt

His speed is deceptive. Several times in those highlights he broke away from the corners and safeties. What's most impressive is he just refuses to go down. And did anyone else notice he's already wearing orange and white and in a couple of those highlights he ran into a checkerboard end zone?

This kid looks faster than Imani Cross and I remember many here on VN being giddy when he was committed. Personally, Williams is my favorite back left on the board with Scott appearing to be out of the picture now.

I wonder sometimes how many on VN watch the NFL combine every year....If they did, they would realize how many top college backs every year run in the high 4.5 low 4.6 40 range. There are alot of factors that go into being a productive RB beyond 40 time.

I agree with you, since it appears we are out on Scott, Williams is my favorite as well. I'm really hoping we can flip him. He plays against quality talent down in LA, reminds me of Gurley. Strong, physical, but also has break away speed.

Mike Davis seems he runs sub 4.3 in open space

I had no idea so many college players ran in the 4.3's. Well, that is until I saw them against our defense. 4.2's and 4.3's all over the field for the other side it seems. Can't even guess how many times I saw someone get through the line of scrimmage, before even getting to the secondary and I thought to myself, "he gone".

I don't think I have seen one breakaway play all year. I'm not including WKU, AP, or SA. I mean against stiff competition I have not seen elite speed on our side of the ball.
