USCjr was still selling out and they were 0-21. But, they were used to losing and let's be honest, what else are you gonna do in Columbia? Why would anyone go there on purpose?

Sportsmommy mentioned recruiting, rumors of her and BAW recruiting others to USCjr. Well, duh, every good prospect does that. That IS part of recruiting, trying to get good players to play with.

well at UT they do not have to sell out. but it would help to get 100,000 at 50 a ticket that is 5 million and then another half a million or one million from merchandising and concessions .UT makes at a bottom line 4 million a game if just 70,0000 show up how is the athletic department broke plus the money that each SEC team splits when bowl games and tv.did mike Hamilton collect any money from haslem and other ut folksisn't that his job and now that dave hart is here he shoul be out getting donations

Well before Hamilton, there were about 15k of those seats going to students for free... Those seats still go for $10 or so I guess. So we have Hamilton to thank for that...

Hamilton is a lot of the reason UT is where it's at right now.

Well they should sell out because the bar has been set for this to be the case. The money is not there because Cheek embezzeled the athletic department's money to the academic side so he could feed his own ego with the 'top 25 research program' he boldly claimed he would pull off. Even though ORNL provides the academic department with a substantial amount of federal grant money for such projects.

UT has the 9th highest profit margin as of 2012(11th in revenue). Even with the bad seasons and reduction in attendance we are still top of the food chain in bringing in money. Now imagine if we could get those 12K back to the games, we could easily move up to top 5 along with merchandise sales.

Hamilton was a great marketer and great at raising money. However, he was a terrible athletic director who made terrible coaching hires and wouldn't stand up to anyone at UT.

Does no one understand finance? The athletic department is not broke. It makes investments, i.e. in athletic facilities to draw in players and fans. If you buy a a house, which may come with a 15 or 30-year mortgage, you wouldn't tell everyone that you're $400,000 in debt. Whenever you upgrade a stadium, gym, etc., it costs money; however, you make a return on that investment.

LSU came in right behind at $202 million. Tennessee was third in the conference at $188 million. For the 2010-11 fiscal year, Tennessee was fifth when it came to annual debt service payments, behind Alabama, LSU, Georgia and Auburn."

Difference is our academic dept, namely Cheek abuses his authority by funneling money from the athletic side for undisclosed projects at record amounts. That's why Hart spoke on an autonomous relationship between the 2 departments like most every other university currently has.

Booger Cheek and Liberal Arts Martin are the reason are athletic resources are in such poor shape.

I see she is on the site now! Hi sportsmommy. See, we did well fans. She did not cancel us yet. Good job on Vol Nation's part. I think the way she handled herself in here and how her son handled recruiting is why we saw no backlash on this site.

I think for once this doesn't really pertain to our fanbase as much. That is unless the flipper kids on Volquest were posting stupidity.
