"Right now Ole Miss, Ohio State and Texas A&M are my top three," he said.

"I really look to my mother and my coach during this process," Williams said. "I live with my mom. She's a single mother. My dad passed over the summer. It was late July. He was shot. He did not live with us, but where he stayed was not very far away. I was supposed to go there this summer. That's why I really pay attention to the relationship with the coaches. At the next level I really want someone that I can trust like a son would his dad."

Williams finished his junior season with 80 tackles, 40 tackles-for-loss, 11.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles in helping lead Sandy Creek to the state championship.

The defensive tackle from Tyrone (Ga.) Sandy Creek confirmed that Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Ohio State, Tennessee and South Carolina have separated themselves from the pack. Williams told ESPN of the group shortly after a visit to Tennessee on Saturday for its junior day event.

"That's my top schools right now," the 6-foot-1, 283-pound prospect said before adding that his official list of finalists will come out later this spring.

Tennessee cemented its position thanks to its junior day. Prospects were able to watch a scrimmage, tour the campus and facilities and take part in a family-themed buffet with inflatable play sets.

"I love it," Williams said. "I like coaches. I like the facilities. I like the area."

Williams is set to visit South Carolina this weekend. He'll visit Clemson and Ohio State later this spring. Clemson could leap into the list of finalists. It will be Williams' second visit to the school. He has also visited Georgia and Auburn.

Georgia hasn't offered Williams a scholarship yet. If the Bulldogs do so, Williams admitted it would be tough to turn down his home-state school.

"It would be, since I grew up loving that team," Williams said.

Tennessee recruiters are hoping that's a battle they don't have to face.

When asked what stood out most about his visit, he replied, "The coaches."

"Coach Thig is a pretty cool guy," Williams said. "We have a lot in common. We like the same kinds of foods, we're both comedians, and we're both from the same area ... Atlanta."

"It was pretty intense ... fast paced ... just like the SEC," he said. "I could picture myself playing in it."

"They're in my top three right now," he said, "along with Ole Miss and Ohio State."

"I enjoyed being here at Tennessee," he said. "I like the coaches and the facilities. The coaches are pretty nice. They seem like down-to-earth guys that take care of their players, get real close with 'em. That's the thing that matters most to me, when it comes down to my recruitment."

I thought this exact thing a few weeks ago. It seems since their staff has been in place for so long, that they would be offering kids 2 classes ahead; however, they always seem to be lagging behind.

This kid will be a player in the SEC. When Mike Vrabel, Luke Fickell, Mark Snyder, Terry Price, Ted Roof, Lorenzo Ward, and Brad Lawing think a kid is good enough to play for them, then the kid is good, regardless of stars.

Oh I know. I think Ole Miss needs to be investigated considering who they landed in this years class. I still think we should beat them out. Just out of tradition.

To a vast majority of these players the only bonus tradition gets a team is usually better facilities and a good fanbase. It doesn't matter that much to them, these kids live in the here and now

When you have as much in state talent as they do they are going to miss on some and offer others late. They have a good problem if you ask me. And if you look at most of the kids they have offered they are the leader or close. Richt may not be able to coach a big game but he can recruit just fine.

The coaches have to be careful with offers to the instate kids. Out of state schools come into this state and throw out multiple offers only to later pull them, and they don't get blasted like UGA would for doing the same thing. We had a bad accident last year, can't be doing things like that too much.

"It was good. I loved Tennessee a lot. The coaches, the facilities, I loved it all," Williams said. "Mostly the coaches. I loved the coaches. They seemed like nice, family oriented guys. They talk to their players on a family level and that's what I liked most about them."

Williams already has a top five with Ole Miss on top and Tennessee second followed by South Carolina, Ohio State and Texas A&M. Williams gives the slight edge to Ole Miss early on because of his comfort in Oxford.

"Ole Miss, when I went on my visit there I felt at home. The coaches made me feel welcomed and it felt like a family when I went there," Williams said. "I love the facilities, I love the players and that's why they're number one and they also offered me first so of course I'm going to always show them some love because they were the first to recognize me."

"All the schools in my top have the same reasons they're in my top five, because of the coaches and the facilities," Williams said.
