'the heck is he wearing in that Rivals profile

These are meant to provide extra padding to the helmet area. I do not know if this is how his high school does it, but when I was in high school we only used them for 2 reasons. One, if someone recently had a head injury/concussion and were working on returning to practice. Two, if we were doing one on one tackle drills, such as Oklahoma or others (we used them rarely). Like I said who knows if this is why, he could have just been playing around, but that is why we used to use them.

I think almost all highschools in GA now use them in Practice.

Plays too high, needs to get lower or he's gonna get pushed around in college.

Hopefully he gets it squared away by the time he graduates high school he will have another year to get better his size alone will be him a lot of attention.

Lol thats what I was wondering also. Actually wouldn't be a bad idea if all HS & college teams used extra head padding like that during practice after seeing some of the recent studies on head trauma. Maybe even the NFL too but they usually don't hit as much as HS & colleges do.

I remember in HS, my coaches would give the RB's extra weighted shoulder pads so that they would learn to stay low and have better leverage and balance going through the holes.

Its going to be a nice, refreshing change when we are known as one of the heavy favorites of all these 4 and 5* recruits next year! No more "night of the living dread" for a recruit anymore. Ol Butch has put his foot down and said enough is enough..this is Tennessee!!

HONOR THY VOLS...CHERISH THEM...
