It is likely that 3 of the best 4 LB's on the roster right now won't be a year from now and possible that the first 4 will be gone if Maggitt comes back strong.

UT lists 10 scholarship LB's on the current roster. Six are seniors. AJ is almost sure to leave early. Maggitt might. My math says that leaves two guys- Bynum and Harris.

#VOLS FYI I've covered Opening before. Things are fluid. Bates' decision could always be moved but plan now is July 3

Awesome, I was just coming in to ask what the exact date was. I knew there were some different dates floating around about when at the opening.

Anyone know if they do announcements at the opening like they do all star games? I've never watched the opening so I plead ignorance. Do they play or is it just a camp?

Attendees are organized into 7-on-7 teams.

doubt Maggitt leaves

i doubt either leaves early - they havent played like pros yet - certainly not played like pros that don't even need a senior season

i mean jerod mayo stayed on campus longer than that and neither of these guys are close to in his league at this point

It was more of a joke than anything. I really do love basketball, but it always has and always will be in second place to football.
I like them both a lot. College baseball will forever be stupid until the MLB does what the NBA did with High School players not being allowed to go straight to pro.

About this Bates guy though.. July 3rd is going to be excellent.

Right now our basketball team's upcoming season seems to be much brighter than our football team's. That being said I'm going to be at both teams' games all year long either way.

The only reason basketball is #2 behind football at Tennessee is that we can't point to multiple national championships (none yet), but there's no reason we can't get there. I hate to give them any credit, but Florida was an also-ran in football until the 1980s and the Steve Spurrier years. Now they have a reputation as one of the best football schools of all-time. Call me an optimist, but I believe the same thing can happen for us in basketball and there's no reason it shouldn't. But, back on topic. I too am excited about Mr. Bates' imminent commitment.
