There were those moments — those high-flying, hold-your-breath moments — when Monroe’s Jabari McGhee would simply dazzle the crowd. “He’s a highlight,’’ Monroe coach Marquis Davis said. “He can finish.’’

McGhee, who put on one rim-rattling dunk show after another this season, finished a remarkable career at Monroe, where he scored more than 1,200 points and emerged as a leader for the Tornadoes.

McGhee, a two-time Herald Super 6er, was a clear choice for The Herald’s Willie Boston Boys Player of the Year in basketball.

...McGhee finished the season averaging 20 points and 11 rebounds a game. He also averaged two blocked shots and four assists and led Southwest Georgia in dunks.

At Hargrave last season McGee averaged 19.2 points and 13.7 rebounds per game.

One thing with McGhee is he was at a prep school, so he's physically not your average freshman, that's gotta be a plus.

Agree. This is looking good for us. I believe he will commit. CDT has been on him for a while and so had Pinkins at Ole Miss. If he does commit, it will put guys like Owens and Cofer on notice. Ellis is the gem of the class so we know CDT has a reserved scholarship there. The guy left standing may be Carmichael just because he may not be released in time to commit.

So far, all is mum on how his visit Is going. I am sure we will hear something by Sunday. I hate the waiting though. This is going to be an exciting weekend.

McGhee leaves later on today so you could hear something, however I'm getting the feeling he might be a guy the staff slow plays. The way VQ made it sound he's not really being pursued by another other big schools currently and if Tennessee pushes for a commitment and offers him a scholarship he's likely to accept.

Tyndall and staff may try to slow play this one for atleast a week and see what happens with some other guys first.
