'14 CA CB Adoree' Jackson (Signed with USC)

i guess "bad team" is relative. im sure they'd have a very good team in the big east.

where would you rank their talent in the SEC?

Honestly would put it between us and them for fourth in the SEC east. I think that they are better than Vandy and obviously better than Kentucky. I may be in the minority, but am really a fan of some of there players.

i am fully aware we have experienced attrition (as has missouri), but here are the rivals rankings for the last 4 classes:

2010
Tenn - #9
Mizz - #21

2011
Tenn - #13
Mizz - #48

2012
Tenn - #17
Mizz - #31

2013
Tenn - #21
Mizz - #41

so over the last 4 cycles we have averaged the #15 overall class, they have averaged the #35 overall class

None of those UT classes have been developed to their full potential. We still have a better team than Mizzou though.

Exactly. A well coached UT team should beat Mizzou easily.

I love UT as much as the next man but I cant get on board with UT beating Oregon. To many factors against us for me to believe we can win. Don't get me wrong I would love to see UT win but I just don't see it happening. I see the same result. Oregon pulling away in the second half with speed.

I didn't say we would win. I said I'd prefer it if we did win. :)

A few things working in our favor that aren't brought up much...

1. Oregon has a new head coach. A man who's never been a head coach. He's only been an OC on bad Colorado teams and then the OC for Oregon the last 3 years. Before Colorado he was a QB coach for awhile.

2. On paper we are almost identical in talent based on rivals rankings the last 4 years. Obviously we've had more attrition and they've had MUCH better coaching the last few years but the talent level is still closer than many admit.

3. Oregon plays @ UVA the week before. They likely crush the cavaliers but they still have to travel across the country a week before we play them. Not a huge deal but worth noting.

At the very least I bet the final score is much closer than the spread.

Bingo. Every year all we heard were more and more excuses from Dooley about how our team wasn't where we needed it to be. Maybe our team wasn't up to LSU or Bama's talent level, but losing to Missouri, Candy, and Kentucky doesn't happen with a good coach.

I know we didn't lose to Kentucky last year, I was referring to the year before.

Speed is the problem. Huff and Thomas are both big-time playmakers. Plus you add the TE Lyeria and a QB who may just be the most accurate passer in the country. Then Tyner will be another weapon for them. Now if we had some real playmakers on offense with our OL I would feel confident but we'll see. Hope Pig Howard, Croom, Bowles, and North show up big. I'm still not confident in the RBs at all.

1. A guy that is going to use the same dominant offense that's always been used. They're going to score a lot of points, no matter what.

2. We also don't have players like Mariota, Mamba, and Lyerla. I don't have a clue how we'll stop them. Maybe Mamba.

3. Knoxville to Oregon, while shorter, is still a haul.

I'm Catholic. Saint Butch has a nice ring to it. Afterall, Shields-Watkins is holy ground.

I am not Catholic. However, I would much rather him called that than "the butcher". Somehow, every time I hear or read that, I get the impression the person who says that is short a few hundred thousand functional brain cells in comparison to your garden variety village idiot. JMO

Really wish John Ward still called plays for UT football. I can hear it now.

Ward: Adoree to the 20, to the 15, no one will catch him, to the 10, to the 5, Adoree "Strike Up The Band" Jackson into the checkerboards. Give him Six!

Me too. I have to admit when Ward and Anderson were making the calls, I was glued to the radio. Now, with Boring Bob, I can only listen for no more than 5 minutes at a time until I get a scoring update. Needless to say, I miss John Ward, one of the ten greatest college football radio announcers ever.

Not sure if you're serious. I think this has been asked many times. He's originally from IL.

Bruh, I do well enough to remember who they are favoring and where they are at right now. Where they grew up stretches my memory bank a bit too far.... but I did vaguely recall that when he was saying it was close to home.

While we have similar talent, we are sorely lacking in "experienced talent" at QB & WR. If we don't keep Black Mamba contained; he's going to make us look silly.

You remember a healthy Josh Huff is hell on wheels too. Kid was breaking games open as a freshman back on their run the BCS Championship Game. We've got a lot to handle in defense. Jancek better have it together and then some.

Hilarious that everyone talks about how you win in the trenches. Then when we have the best returning talent on both lines, in more years than I care to think about, we aren't fast enough.

This team reminds me a lot of FL's team last year minus 2 really good CBs.

Lineman can't score for you, and Oregon's offensive line is no pushover by any means. Nor do we have any proven pass rushers on our DLine.

Edit: although Jaq could be a 1st rounder if he ever flips the switch.

Just an observation, Hoss. You guys can continue talking about how bad Oregon will beat us without an argument from me. It's just hilarious watching the mood swings on all the "logic" being thrown out there.

Well I mean the logic makes sense. You can have a great oline, but you're not gonna score much if you don't have anyone to give the ball to, and you can't get the ball to your playmakers without a good oline, gotta have both to be good.

If adoree committs people will be throwing air humps, throwing down shots of jack and booming in there pants out of control

And good coaching too, right?
