'14 CA CB Adoree' Jackson (Signed with USC)

Roper may not be a slash hire that UF fans wanted but his resume is better than Helton and Pease. Im sure most say its Cutt's system but moving back to a spread is what Fla needs to be a top 50 O. Solid hire imo.

As much as I hate it, I think he is going to be a very good OC for UF. He will have better talent to work with than at Duke. It wouldn't surprise me to see UF competing for the East title next season.

The O Roper will bring will be better than what UF has, but not elite. FSU showed how to handle that O. Yes, UF can get better players. However, Cut's O uses a lot of crossing patterns and go/sideline routes that everybody already knows about for two decades. Butch can go back and look on the shelf for the video of what our guys ran when he was here to get most of it.

All I want for Christmas is for Mr. Jackson to join this monster class and to do his thing on the hill next fall.

Roper has a ton to prove. He has proven nothing yet as a coordinator. Cut was the brains there. Not surprising that Florida couldn't do better due to circumstance of a lame duck coach. We were in that position when Wilcox left. The good news for Roper is that he will have an opportunity to prove himself. This could be the bad news also.

The question too is does Roper have the offensive talent at FL to compete in the SEC, regardless of system. They need help on offense and Grier needs a redshirt year.

I would like to believe distance is a factor but the reality is he has proven this not to be the case already. If he is willing to move 1/2 across the country to help his future & play ball/run track for high school then you have to believe he would do the same in college if he believes that school is his best option to reach his future goals. I mean honestly his parents cant watch him now at all & he still went. With all of the schools he is choosing between, their football games & several track meets will be televised anyway making it possible for them to see him no matter where he goes.

Maybe it was a different situation. When they made the decision to send him so far away they thought that was the best place for him to excel and see how good he is. That was 4 years ago, and a high school decision, when they didn't know he would be such a star. Now that's not the case, he has just as good of options much closer to home and will get the same exposure.

Not trying to be overly critical, but stop thinking like a Vol and think like a parent. I'm not saying AJ's parents will agree that USC is his best option, but whatever they do believe it to be is where they will want him. Distance doesn't matter. I'm sure they would love for his best option to be closest, but they'll keep an open mind and go with what they ultimately feel is the best choice for him to achieve his goals and his dreams.

I would love to see this young man in orange, but I don't believe it to be likely. He has big time track dreams, and while we're not horrible, our track program isn't what it used to be.

Just a little tangent, Hart could greatly help our football program by putting more effort into rebuilding the track program. So many great football players have strong roots in track as the past has shown us. It may not be a "moneymaker" but it's a great recruiting tool. It can be just as, if not moreso, effective as great facilities when it comes to selling UT to these athletes.

Well, you're being overly critical. I said maybe. I said he has plenty of options closer to home in college, compared to high school, MAYBE. However, i do think like a Vols fan but that didn't seem like too much of a homer statement to me.

Wilcox to USC.....not sure that helps them. Now if Sirmon follows it may become an issue. Wilcox is not an enthusiastic recruiter.

Really? Maybe he was an enthusiastic recruiter because the head coach was so terrible and didn't hold anyone accountable?

I thought Lupoi and Sirmon were the main UW recruiters - could be wrong - but always got the impression JW was the brain guy and those guys were the recruiters

also, I think the other poster is referring to his entire career as opposed to just the UT years

Boise isnt a place known for recruiting - more for good schemes and development so would fit with JW being that more so than a recruiter
