Chandler,
Come on man, your post seemed very knowledgeable and detailed. No need in calling the guy a moron because he respectfully challenged your opinion.
I will call him a moron, when i believe people are possibly screwing up a kid with a ton of ability's life. I support AJ following whatever dream he wishes to go into. If he wants to be a T&F star, hey more power to him, i'd love for him to win a gold medal for the US. If he wants to be a great football player, again I want him at UT, but i can't find a reason why LSU or UF are not equally good choices all things being equal.
I do have a serious problem with people, and coaches lying their asses off, and giving a kid terrible advice to serve their own selfish purposes. We all know college football is all about money, and it can get very very dirty. If people are telling him he can go to the Olympics and play SEC football, they are clearly misleading the kid or not very knowledgeable and that is terrible. There is no need for a school like UF to mislead AJ, the school has enough good things going for it to not put in false hopes and unrealistic feats in his head that could eventually ruin AJ, if he doesn't settle into 1 sport.
college coaches are salemen...CBJ and Zo told Sharpe he could play both and was a SEC talent in both sports. It happens but UF T&F offered him in 9th grade so Im pretty sure that was bc of talent and not lying for football reason. As I stated it crazy to think his camp hasnt talked to others outside of college coaches. Maybe he gets to campus and decides to just be a T&F guy or football.

There is absolutely, positively no way he is going to be an elite long jumper and playing SEC football at UF, UT or LSU. This is not about crushing his dreams, this is about reality. He has the ability to excel at one or the other, unfortunately the skills and training required to be elite at both will not translate well to the other sport.
Recruits know coaches blow sunshine up their asses. It's no secret how it works. And a 5 star recruit who has been getting the full treatment since he was recruited to play high school ball, well I'll bet he can smell the bullsh*t a mile a way. And if he can't, the family sure as heck can! I would love to see the verbatim quotes of Florida or LSU saying they would get him to the Olympics. That sounds taken out of context, poorly worded, or completely untrue. Do you have any source?I will call him a moron, when i believe people are possibly screwing up a kid with a ton of ability's life. I support AJ following whatever dream he wishes to go into. I would not say there is no way. I seem to recall a guy in the early 80's that was a great T&F guy that came in second to Carl Lewis. Also went on to be in the winter olympics as well. I agree with you that is almost impossible, but I wouldn't say it is impossible.
Justin Hunter was pretty good in his own right, I think he was ranked #3 in the long jump.
Yes HG, they offered him in track, and he can be a good track guy for any program, with potential to be elite. Where i have a problem with UF, is the fact that they are telling AJ that their long jump coach has gotten the last 2 guys to the olympics and that they can do the same for him. That is clearly misleading. What is funny is AJ can run track at all 3 programs. All 3 programs compared to 90% of the other programs, have the resources and support to make him into a very good T&F guy at the college level. If you are selling a kid on your T&F's coach being elite and the olympics, that is a bunch of BS in my book. Just be truthful. UF just needs to point out their DB success, they have a great track program to be a part of, great weather and academics and pretty girls. That is plenty of great points plus they can point out they offered him early, so they have been their since the beginning. No need to lie or mislead the kid, which HG, we know UF has already done.
Also the Sharpe comparison is terrible. We told Sharpe he could play basketball and football. Nothing more, nothing less. Further, as you have seen our bball team is 6-4 and underachieving so it's not like hes coming into an elite bball program either. If you wanted to make your comparison similar, our basketball coach would be telling him that he can make him a lottery pick in the NBA while playing football.
nothing bout what either coach is saying would be a lie. UF last two SEc champ LJ won medals. Coach also got a part time T&F guy a relay medal in Demps. If the kid wasnt a football player one of the best T&F programs still would be after him. AJ talks up UF T&F bc he knows its Top 3 and the staff has success getting kids on Team USA.

Where is your Gator Badge?
Right next to yours.
How am I a Gator fan? I've said I want Adoree here, and I think he can make the Olympics. Chandler says there's no way he will, and I know for a fact that Adoree reads these boards, and I believe he can reach his dream and make the Olympics here.
He's said from day 1 his goal was to reach the Olympics, and if he had to choose football or track, he would choose track. Why would we be telling him he can't make the Olympics? We should be telling him he can be an all American cb, wr, kick returner, national champion long jumper, and an Olympian
but his chances are better to immediately see the field a lot at UT over at UF or LSU
