'14 AL OLB Rashaan Evans

For some odd reason,I'm pulling for Auburn to keep their hometown prize...Bama needs a few disappointments...when they celebrate too much, barnyard animals wind up pregnant #innocenceproject

Missing on Evans wouldn't be a disappointment, a lot of fans are still surprised that Bama is a finalist for an AU legacy. If anything it would be a bonus to the class.

Until they make everything in the SEC a level playing field where the opponents are on a rotating basis between Eastern and Western opponents I'll always want an elite guy like this to pick Auburn over Alabama since Bama is our permanent opponent and Auburn is Georgia's. (It sure would be nice to have UK or Vandy's rotating SEC West schedule where some years they play two of Ole Miss, Miss State or Arkansas.)

There is no crying in football!
We play bama every year!
You afraid of the competition?

I think he would be fine there also but I don't think the 4-2-5 defense will utilize his skillset as a LB as well as a 3-4. He has the ability to do everything well as a LB but a 3-4 would utilize his biggest strength which is rushing the QB (ex.Jarvis Jones). AU wants him at the "star" position which would have him in space a lot.

I personally think Bama's defense is to structured for such an instinctive player. Reminds me of the Chiefs Derrick Johnson. He would be handicapped by sitting in the 3-4 all day. A kid this athletic should be used like a weapon and moved around all game.

Sounds like his Dad agrees with you. From Rivals -

Alan and his son's conversations mostly center around position fit. Alabama and UCLA see Evans excelling as an outside linebacker in a 3-4 scheme, where Auburn sees Evans shining as the "star" in the Tigers' 4-2-5 scheme.

"I think that 'star' position is perfect for him," Alan said. "It's a position that allows you to be a dynamic player, which he is. He can play linebacker, he can rush, he can drop in coverage, play man-to-man, play the tight end -- it's a dynamic position for a dynamic player.

Afraid? How did you get "afraid" from that post? It's just common sense that schools like UK and Vandy have major built in advantages with the way the cross division schedules are done.

Is it just me, or does anyone else have a problem with this thread being bumped by rival posters non-stop? Evans isnt considering UT, soooo take this convo elsewhere please.

I agree, but in before someone tells you where the ignore thread feature is. :)

Bama want more fast twitch kids because of the issues against mobile QBs in spreads. That's why they are recruiting more of the Christian Miller types, kids that can get to the QB but are athletic enough to drop in coverage. Bama was also going to use him like UGA used Jarvis Jones. Im sure he and his dad have known how he would be used in the AU defensive scheme for a while now but im not surprised that both are coming out now and saying how its a good fit since its coming down to the last days and that will be his destination.

Where should the convo go? It's in the player/prospect thread..... VN acts as if you can't talk about a kid if he's not coming here. Especially in this player's thread.

Coming from the same guy that just yesterday said that "if you don't like what I have to say just put me on ignore". The hypocrisy is strong within OH.
