'13 VA RB Derrick Green (Michigan commit)

Hate to be the negative guy on the UT forums, but if this kid really values academics as much as I've been led to believe then I don't think we stand a chance against UM. Plus the wolverines have been playing a Denard at HB for the end of the season... not exactly a deep position if you are subbing in your once heisman caliber QB as soon as your starting HB goes down. He'll have a lot more immediate playing time at Michigan although we all know he'd have a better overall career here as a Vol.

Another negative slanted post from a newcomer to the board.

If you hate to be the negative guy, dont be. Remain silent. Besides your attitude, how can you assume that UM has a better academic program than UT. Your 7 posts and your opinions are much like your IQ.

Don't know about a better academic program, but do know that Cheek has made proclamations that UT will be a 'top 25 research program' by taking all of the ADs revenue along with the ORNL grants and show no transparency while running a not-for-profit university.

Also, one thing I know for sure, is Michigan's economy sucks, and Tennessee is below the National average in unemployment with Knoxville being one of the 3 cities in the US that is currently flourishing economically. Don't believe me, ask all of the Michigan transplants moving down here in droves talking about how good their wasteland of a state is.

Get over yourself. At no point of his post did he demonstrate as bad an attitude as you have showed in this one post. He stated his opinion and you insulted him. Let's look at what he said:

Michigan's academics are better than UT's. Right now, that is true. The Big 10 is noted for it's academic standards. Michigan is ranked #29 in the US News rankings of colleges. UT is #101.

And he said that Michigan has no depth at tailback, which is true.

And that's it. Seriously, you freak out over that? Take a chill pill, bro.

Im pretty sure their starting rb just announced he was coming back for his senior year. (Tousignant, I believe)

there was never anything to announce one way or the other. he was never leaving early and it's still too early to tell if he'll even be able to play football again

They have been playing Denard at HB because of nerve damage prohibiting from throwing accurate. He is the best athlete on the field so they have to put him somewhere. So it isn't so much a reflection of their depth as much as keeping a top playmaker on the field.

It is safe to assume Michigan's academic reputation vastly surpasses Tennessee. I have a degree from Tennessee and a rejection letter from Michigan that proves the point, haha.

Don't forget, you also had 7 posts at one time...

This is true, but UT is moving toward that direction. Standards are rising quickly and its getting harder and harder for instate students to get in. Sound familiar? UM has a low percentage of Michiganders in their University, iirc.

There is nothing wrong with UT's Academics, but Michigan is a better Academic school. It's not even debatable. To argue that looks silly. Michigan is one of the better public schools in the country.

I believe the Tennessee lottery scholarship had a lot to do with that? It gave Tennessee a much larger pool of instate kids to select from since kids could attend UT regardless of their ability to pay (rightfully so).

I'm from Illinois btw. Applied to a 5 big ten schools, got in 2. Applied to 2 SEC schools, got in 2. Feeling VERY blessed I ended up as a Vol!
