'13 VA RB Derrick Green (Michigan commit)

if it meant nothing, why say it and why not say the same thing to UT rivals. having someone as a leader means nothing in the final decision as we've seen many times over the years of recruiting, it's nothing more than his opinion at the time of the interview.

You must not follow recruiting much. Kids tell this stuff to team Rivals, Scout and 247 all the time and will tell 5this different ones 5we different things. If they were that far out front he would committ and enroll early at Mich. His Mom wants him at UT and hopefully where he ends up. I mean its the SEC or Big whatever they are now. Not really much of a decision.

strange as in? i was primarily gaming forums only for the longest time. i generally stick to threads where i have vested interest or at least at first something to add to the conversation rather than just replying to everything i can with comments like "this" or "+1". i don't look for threads to post in just to post something and i'm honestly no where informed when it comes to information regarding UT or it's athletics but when it's time to call a spade a spade, sometimes i can't help myself.

No way this dude wants to live in cold ass, gloomy Michigan for 3 years when he could go anywhere in the country. I work with 3 guys from Michigan and they all say they'd never go back.. Said Knox is like a different world.

Well, that's great and all but you're talking about (what I'm assuming to be) grown men who have lived there versus a 17-18 year old kid who's very likely never lived too far from home. I doubt the comparison holds true.

Sorry but statements like this are beyond ridiculous.

Ok ... I'll come to the defense of Goat.

Why is this SO hard to believe? He's a 5 star running back with the best offensive line (arguably) in the country. And the invisible freshman 'barrier' was broken this year by Manziel. In the right system with lots of playing time, could this kid rack up 1,500 - 1,700 yard and 15 touchdowns? Sure he could. That's a lot of 'Ifs'. He's certainly got the talent to make it happen, though.

You may not agree with it but it's NOT a ridiculous idea.

I am from Detroit, MI and had to move back here from Knoxville last year to help caretake for my Dad. Let me tell you..even though I was born and raised here and love my hometown city, I did NOT want to come back AT ALL!! It is miserable here during the Winter! It IS gloomy, cold, dreary and depressing! Its just a different way of life up here compared to Knoxville. More hustle and bustle...much more fast-paced. I love Detroit and always will, but Knoxville, my other home, will always be home sweet home to meeeeeeee!!

HONOR THY VOLS...CHERISH THEM...

You just made the entire argument with your posts. There are a lot of IFs and enough to think this is ridiculous.

Only one freshman has ever won this award and that was Johnny football. He had the perfect storm. An offense than put up stupid numbers and a year where the competition was lacking.

So you are telling me that its ridiculous to think, a kid who isnt considered all world just highly rated can do it? Of all the great RBs to have played this game and none won it as a freshamn to think Green can, is ridiculous.

Sorry but to think he could win an heisman in his first year, any freshman for that matter, is really grasping at straws. The numbers just dont go along with that.
