This week, while on the U.S. Army All-American Bowl Player of the Year Tour, Green went on the record saying that Michigan has the edge, especially with coaching changes at Auburn and Tennessee, the two teams thought to be the biggest threat.
Several factors appear to be pushing Derrick Green toward the Wolverines. While at one point I thought the Wolverines were fading following his official visit for the Michigan State game, that is no longer the case.
However, this is far from a slam dunk for Michigan fans and numerous fanbases will be sweating this one out for a while.
I'm not sure where the early enrollment rumors started, but Green isn't enrolling anyplace early. That means he can and will take official visits in January and his decision could come down to Signing Day. The original plan was to decide in December or at the Army Bowl, but that doesn't appear likely. Why? Because some new schools could be jumping into the mix.
I think Auburn is pretty much on its way out of the picture because the entire staff, including running backs coach Curtis Luper, was dismissed and he will have to start all over again with the Tigers. Tennessee is still in the mix because running backs coach Jay Graham is still on board and I know he really wants to visit Miami if he can. Ole Miss and Oregon are on the outside looking in, at least in my opinion, but we'll see if he visits either school. So essentially that leaves Michigan, Tennessee and Miami as the three biggest contenders right now.
Green is seriously a must in this class. Hands down player of the class.
You guys do know that he wont be playing much his first year, if he decides on Tennessee.
You all are acting like he is comin in here and rack up 1,000 yards his freshmen year.
He will prob be our 3rd string RB.
If Green comes, I see Neal moving into a 3rd down role or perhaps to receiver if need arises.
Side note - what happened to Turman? Loved his film
I think you guys are overrating Lane personally. He's the most Jekyll and Hyde runner I've seen. If he fumbles he plays like he's hurt. One game he cuts and gos the next game he's dancing like a stripper in the hole. His open field speed needs to be worked on extremely hard this offseason. And coaches should specify certain areas for certain players to be worked on this offseason.

Jump back a few years... replace Green with Bryce Brown and Neal with Hardesty, and you there were dozens of posts just like that.
People underestimate a senior RB in favor of the new kid on the block. Green would get his carries, but Neal is not going to go from being a very serviceable starter, to just getting some 3rd down carries.
Ppl underestimating Lane. He'll be more confident (on that knee 2013) and his play will reflect this. IMO
Maybe, but he has not shown me enough to give me hope that he will improve that much. Skeeter has said that he has the talent, but just can't seem to mentally get over his injury. He ran scared and tentative most of the time, and looked confused in the open field. He had flashes of looking good, like the first half of USCe, but then Lattimore got injured, and he looked tentative again.
