'13 VA RB Derrick Green (Michigan commit)

From Rivals -

Five-star running back Derrick Green is the fifth-ranked uncommitted player in the country and the No. 14 prospect overall. What's he looking for in a college? First, a place where he can collect wins. Secondly, a strong relationship with the man who overseas his position group.

The guy sitting in the big office and calling the shots is secondary at best. And so goes the evolution of modern recruiting.

"I think the position coach is going to matter more to me because I'm going to spend 95 percent of my time with my position coach," Green said.

Could be good sign for UT.

Thanks for posting. All roads lead to Jay Graham. :crossfingers:

Originally he was set to announce in October, then November. My guess is after AU and UT implosions he wanted the dust to settle with coaching. Could be anytime between now and signing day.

Graham staying helps UT a bunch.

Makes sense. Thanks for answering.

On Green...

"Green hasn't taken our calls this week. Tennessee has been in contact with him. Graham was at his house last week.

I do think Tennessee still has a realistic shot with Graham staying."

"I answered a few questions that were directed to me about him yesterday.

He's been on this Army All-American player of the year tour in New York so far this week so he hasn't taken any calls. Tennessee still would love to have him. I don't know if Jones is going to visit him on Thursday because then they would waste the one in-home with him early and you still have to wait for January to play out.

I'm sure Graham will go see him some time this week. We'll keep trying to call him."

I think this one comes down to family and being close to home. We've got everything he wants and his mom is a drivable distance away.

Sorry to be negavol but I feel like he probably won't come to TN.
As great as his relationship with Graham might be, I think he will pick a school that is winning more games. If I was him, I'd pick UT, because I'm not sure if anyone realizes that our offense was quite impressive this year and we should only be 10-3 if our defense was top notch(hell, even decent).
I really want him though, he'd be a perfect fit. Butch definitely would give him the spotlight he needs. However, I still like Neal's potential and Lane if he was more consistent. I would utilize Neal like they did his sophomore year (just more a few more touches).
