'13 VA RB Derrick Green (Michigan commit)

Henry is an early enrollee so he would likely be on campus before Dooley is fired, if he is. Plus, whatever new coach we bring in would likely keep CJG. That would leave us with the atmosphere, the opportunity to contribute early, and CJG, which are all the things both of them are talking about.

If, and I believe we won't get both, they'd both start from day 1. And they won't even have to try that hard because of what we got now.

Well that's not true at all.. They would have to fight very hard to beat out a veteran senior and junior tb.. That's if they're gonna be the feature back, and not just situational.

I can tell you right now 100%, the only thing that keeps Dooley from being head coach next year is death so don't screw up recruits heads with this b.s..

If they all stay dooley probley needs to leave. jmo

Peyton stayed because he was smart; he wanted to be better prepared for the NFL. A lot of juniors stay for their senior year because they believe in their team and want to get a championship ring, before entering the hard and cold real world.

I can tell you right now that neither you nor I know that for sure. Do I want Dooley to be fired? No, I would prefer that he works out for us. I was responding to a hypothetical post by someone else saying that neither would sign with us if Dooley was fired. Also, I can post whatever the hell I want to in a recruits thread as long as it is not against board rules which it was not.

I dont think it matters if its Green or Henry in our backfield until we change Chaney it will be the same.
I disagree somewhat. It's hard to expect an average QB to excel in the SEC...and likewise, until Chaney is given elite talent at RB, it's hard to expect our running game to excel. Can't blame him for leaning on our strength. If he tried to force the running game, people would be calling for his head in that regard as well.

You give him one or two RB's of that caliber and see if they don't become an integral part of this offense. That would open up the passing game, and likewise, the passing game would take some pressure off the running game.

I personally think Lane is the better RB overall. He doesn't have Neal's speed, but Neal doesn't have the toughness to break into the open field so he can use that speed.

Unless changes are made to the offense throughout the season Chaney won't be here much longer.

We'll have Downs plus Meredith, and hopefully a JUCO like Sandland.

He's been injury ridden. Hopefully he takes the off season to fully heal and rebound.

It is better to be a Vol than a Wolverine on this day.

It's better to be a Vol than a Wolverine any day. Or a Gator. Or a Trojan. Or a Buckeye. And even a Crimson Tide, whatever the eff that is. Screw them all. 5-7, 13-0, Dooley or Fulmer, I wouldn't trade being a Vol for anything else.

Looks to me like Chaney took note...from his interviews and the number of times we ran the ball today. I still say that if you don't have the horses to run the ball effectively, then what good does it do to try and force the run when your opponent has demonstrated regularly throughout the game he is not going to let you do it?

I don't think Chaney is so much pass happy as he was/is trying to play to our strengths. Get two beasts like Derrick Henry and Derrick Green on the roster, and watch how balanced this offense suddenly becomes. Any OC worth a darn would be chomping at the bit to utilize those two, to hammer defenses.

He threw the ball 45 times against Akron. He uses the pass to open up the run. That will continue to kill us in SEC play. Players don't fix bad play callers. Stop judging him against terrible teams, look at the SEC defenses that make him look funny.

This is a thread about recruiting news on Derrick Green. If you want to argue about our Coordinators please do it in the football forum so as to not flood this thread with non-Derrick Green information
