'13 VA RB Derrick Green (Michigan commit)

Is no one else worried that this guy as good as he is right now and as big will out grow being a RB after a couple years?

Nope.... check LSU's roster and look at Kenny Hilliard. Grown man right there. Lattimore didn't have a ton of upside either but I don't think any of us would turn that type of player down.

Oh don't get me wrong it is a chance worth taking I think but I worry more that he will be a Ron Dayne type more than a Kenny Hilliard or Lattimore. But I agree definately a take either way.

Green has been about the same size since his freshman year of HS. The combine videos from his summer at 15 years old are linked in here somewhere. I don't think he'll grow much more. JMO.

No worries. Just discussing him, not trying to come off lecturing anyone. I think he's got more burst and wiggle in his big toe than dayne had in his whole body. Dayne put his head down and mauled people.

He has much better footwork and understands he's a power back so he doesn't do all that dancing. Dayne was a bust waiting to happen out of college. His line was off the charts good in college.

That is exactly what I though about Dayne. Any line that could open up hole like they did for that size guy was a pretty good line. Green is the kind of back that makes me want us to just line up in the I and make people stop us.

Thanks for the info to. :hi:

Imani Cross is a lot like Dayne for comparison.

So you're saying he's pretty much exactly what we could've used this year?

Too damn bad A. Hill got momo, I think he could've carved a nice little role out for himself on this team. Any chance he makes it back to contribute or is he likely headed for a redshirt?

Not sure a stiff immobile rb is what we needed last year with the way we blocked up front. Put Dayne behind our line last year and you never hear of him. I think unless he really blows up and out works some people he redshirts this year.

Gotcha, I meant Cross tho. :hi:

Ron Dayne won the Heisman, the HEISMAN. He/we should only hope he turn into that

He should thank Peter Warrick for getting in trouble. He was taking the Heisman back to FSU with him. Also quite a few RBs would've won the heisman playing for Wisconsin that year. The holes that line was opening up were crazy.

Yeah Warrick had that wrapped up in about three games. Just had to stop by Dillard's to get some polo's...

Hill will more than likely RS. Honestly I see him sliding into a H-back/FB role a la Bart B. He does have more speed than I. Cross but he weighs about 10 pounds less. Who knows. Probably too early to get a read on him. Just speculating.
