'13 VA RB Derrick Green (Michigan commit)

I think that if our line can block like they are capable of I think it will not only open the eyes of Green but also the entire SEC!

Fortenberry just said Green's top two are OSU and Clemson...

Fortenberry always has great information no doubt. My question is...why would any running back with NFL potential EVER sign with Urbie and try to run in that offense? Help me out here.... OSU is Ohio State not Okla. St. ... right?

Green grew up a huge OSU fan and idolized Eddie George. That has a lot to do with it. I don't think he goes there in the end though. My money is on Clemson.

I don't think we're out of it for this kid. Think personally we are the darkhorse for him. We just need to win and play better.

The more these RB's keep signing with top 5 or top 10 teams the more evident it's going to be to Kamara his best option is UT. Henry to Bama may change Kamara going to dawgs but even in Athens he's got 3-4 ahead of him. At UT it's wide open for early playing time. Know the threads on Green but it sounds like he's a TOSU lover or believer in Dabo Sweeney (whose a great recruiter BUT ACC is going down).

ATP Green's top choice is Clemson. If he decides to go there and Wilkins goes to Auburn, I'd expect Ty Dye to get a lot more interested in what we have to offer.

If Green goes to Clemson, my wife will be happy. I'd rather see him.....and Kamara......here.

Dye's top 2 is Auburn and Clemson. Wilkins should commit to AU soon, probably landing Dye at Clemson. That would be the 2nd RB commit for Clemson. I don't think Green will end up at OSU either. Of course Green could always commit to Clemson before Dye, but don't think they will both go there.

Clemson feels good about getting Green. No offense to Dye but they won't jeopardize losing Green for him IMO.

i agree, normally dont like getting left overs but if we backed into getting dye because of it i would be happy as hell. ive got em ranked like this 1- green (obviously) 2- dye 3- kamara as far as elite backs we have a shot at.

for some reason it seems like that didnt follow urban to osu god knows we couldnt sign any every down backs at UF while he was here

I agree that the guys we have haven't separated themselves but these backs could look at our roster and see 4 top 30 RB in Smith, Lane, Neal and Borque, then throw in Hill and Watson. #'s wise it doesn't necessarily look like a great situation here.

Our situation isn't really any better than UGA's. Who are the 3-4 ahead of these guys in Athens? Gurley and Marshall? Two guys who've yet to play a college down. Their only established back is Crowell.

Beyond Lacy and possibly Fowler what does Bama have? A bunch of young studs out of HS all vying to be the 2nd or 3rd back.

Of the big boys in conference only LSU is 100% set IMO, in terms of having a stable of RB that we know are all capable of producing because we've seen them all have success at this level.

I'd say we have more questions about our backs than Georgia. Not to say they won't be busts , but when you sign the top 2 back to back , you aren't going to question them as much. We have a bunch of players that weren't that highly rated and have no idea how good they will be. I mean we aren't expecting 5 star production from players like Watson , Hill and a few others. Borque was rated high , but not as a running back. Neal has showed he can catch the ball and run a reverse. But he fumbles way too much. Lane is the best pure back we have.

As for Bama , they have questions about Hart because he was injured. Yeldon might be listed as 2 at some point , but he will get reps with the ones. He looked like the best back on the field during the bammer spring game. And I know , it was a spring game , but that kid is going to be special. Let someone like TW tell you.

Bama has the best of the 3 teams listed. If they take as many as it's looking like , someone is going to be the odd man out. Saban might give players like Henry a chance at RB , but he won't hesitate to move them. I even heard they were thinking of putting Kamara at a different position.

I just want us to start getting pure running backs. Not a project or someone coming off an injury. That's no shot at Marlin either , but we all know he didn't come in at 100% He's looking like it now though. That is the difference between Tennessee and the other 2 listed. They are getting pure runners. We aren't. There is nothing wrong with sharing the spot , but only so many are going to play early at those schools. I still think with all the names in the the RB position here , you can come here and take just about anyone's place.

Just caught up with him for a few minutes, he still likes Tennessee. We'll have a story for in the morning, but he does plan on releasing a top 10 and I'd expect the Vols to be on that list.

Don't get your hopes up for UT to be in the top-1 come NSD.

Not if he had to decide now, but a lot can happen in 7 months. I can't imagine SOME of these elite pospects wouldn't consider us more seriously if we win 9 or 10.

If Clemson takes dye and he doesn't buy urb's mess who would be our main comp?
