At 5'11 and 220 pounds, Derrick Green of Hermitage High School in Richmond, Va. is an imposing figure. Never mind that he looks 25 years old with the build of a 5th year senior in college, Green doesn't just look scary, he runs scary.

Green has quick feet and excellent balance, but many big backs on the high school level tend to think they're scat backs. A player of Green's caliber is still the best athlete on the field, but make no mistake about it, Green runs angry. While he can make a move and break and arm tackle, which he frequently does, he's not going to hit the ground until he has punished a defender.

Green is being recruited by teams from all over the country including Michigan, Tennessee, Clemson, Oregon, Virginia Tech and more.

This. It will end up at or close to 25 when all is said and done if they can get the right guys. While the number right now might be 14-15, 17-18, there is no way of foreeings attrition from the roster at this point, so you might as well be out there recruiting as though you can sign a full class. I'd rather them over-recruit / over-sign as opposed to recruiting to your exact numbers and ending up burned come signing day.

hes just a great all around back. big guy who can be a bruiser but still has shifty cutting ability and quick feet. doesnt waste time at all like you said, plus it looks like he can catch pretty well out of the back field too. this is a great film cause it doesnt just show tons and tons of 50 yards tds like most, shows him getting those tough 10-15 yard runs in. much more indicative of a player than just seeing all their long scores where they happen to beat one guy and take off.

I'm like you Dude were is the guy that thought Mizzel was some much better than Green. Yea like I've said along no comparison to Green and now the top Scouts agree and he is #1 in the country. Green's Boo Bee Miles and Mizzel is his back up. Hints the movie Friday Night Lights LOL

Im still here watchin all you goofs cream over this kid just to get dissappointed in 1 way or another. LOL! You guys blast me for having my opinion about the player but yet you guys are doing the same thing talking of how he will be like this player or that. Where is your crystal ball? As for the film you guys are seeing, the competition his team is playing against is HORRIBLE! They play in the worst district in the region! Where is the video from the playoff games where he was shut out of the end zone and made to look WEAK by Ken Ekanekam (and others)...VT Signee at LB/DE. The kid is good but in NO WAY is he #1 in the nation. From what I hear though he is a good kid and gets the grades along with it. Im just giving MHO. But like always you guys will blast someone for giving their opinion of a player. I guess thats why you guys have been a non factor for years now and will continue to be until you get a true COACH not a name.
