'13 VA RB Derrick Green (Michigan commit)

"It was really nice," Green described with much enthusiasm in his tone.

"The fans showed a lot of love. I toured the campus with Coach (Jay) Graham and spoke with some people from academics and spoke with some of the players."

Like many recruits, his eyes drew immediately to the state-of-the-art facilities. "And the new facilities, they are ridiculous," he added.

While the campus is appealing, from early on, Green made it clear that he will thoroughly investigate his future role on the gridiron. Does Tennessee offer him what he wants?

"Oh, yea definitely," he responded. "I like the different things they are doing out in the backfield. The different things they do with the running backs and how they use them in space."

Green keeps a notepad with him while he travels school to school, and jots downs his thoughts: things he doesn't like and does like about each program. Vols fans can rest assured that Green has nothing negative to scribble down about his trip to Tennessee. The Virginia native also had intended on stopping by Vanderbilt this holiday weekend, but Nashville was cut from the itinerary for no reason, Green said.

The four-star is expected to narrow his list down this summer. Stay tuned.
TOS

We must have given him some lettuce wraps to take home to Virginia, thus eliminating any reason to visit Vanderbilt.

Im holding on to the idea that the phrase " the fans showed a lot of love" is a reference to the rock lol. I mean what else could it be

In the rivals article (would post quotes but I'm on mobile), he talks about the rock, and there is a big picture of it in the article. He talked about coach graham being on the rock, and described the whole thing. Seemed impressed with it. Great job Ertel!

VQ article basically reiterates what has already been said. Green really enjoyed his visit mainly because of Coach Jay Graham and the new football facilities. Green brought his mother along for the visit and she also liked the new facilities and thinks Coach Graham is a dependable coach. He says UT will definitely get one of his five official visits in the Fall.

"We wanted to see how things were coming a long with the new facilities," Green said. "I wanted to sit down with coach Graham and talk to him. He's a real coach that is going to keep it 100. He showed me some stuff of how they are going to use their backs and I liked that a lot."

"My mom definitely liked it," Green said. "She agreed with me about coach Graham. It was their first time meeting face to face. She said she liked the new facilities. She felt like coach Graham is a trust worthy coach."

He'll only get five official visits, but will Tennessee get one of the coveted five?

"Definitely," Green said. "I really appreciate the fans because they have their rock and they had painted it with all the bigtime backs and their yards. They even had coach Graham on their and then they had my name with question marks."

I think more and more we are seeing the benefits of hiring Graham. Rather or not we get Green, I think Graham has kept us in it with Green. Seeing Grahams name on that rock I think made a big impression on Green. Also, having mom there sure didn't hurt.
