'13 VA RB Derrick Green (Michigan commit)

I don't think it's that simple. I think there also needs to be a change in offensive philosophy. An O-line with as much size and athleticism as UT's shouldn't be struggling to run block against the Akrons of college football.

It may seem that way, but the reality is our RB's are below average.

Green will be the better of the two at RB. Henry will end up at LB or TE. Both are explosive athletes, but I just like Green's powerful forward lean when he runs.

I think Tiny might have won D. Green over for us. Similar to Saban calling Henry from the draft. The things like that really stick out to recruits, and Tiny left a lasting effect on Green.

He's going to Michigan on an OV 10/20 and is hoping to be an EE so sometime in November or early December is most likely when he'll announce.

We ran for almost 250 yards against Akron despite throwing it 43 times for 400 yards...I'm not sure how that is struggling...

The only time we struggle is when our OC forgets you're allowed to run the ball and starts callig passes every play

Key word. Akron's not exactly a decent defense.

1-8 in the last 9 SEC games is struggling.

If we were running it most of the time that game your point would carry more weight...but we put up that number despite passing it 43 times...

191, 183, 87 and 238....those are our rushing totals this year...and the 87 would have been much higher if our OC hadn't panicked...

I don't know where this idea that we can't run it is coming from...the numbers dont support that

I agree with you, Thunder. We can run the ball pretty well when we actually call running plays. And the fact that our RB's are not very good is a testament to our OL and their improvement. If we had just one above average SEC RB and an above average play caller we'd be very very good on offense. Which would give our defense much needed rest and we might actually win a game that matters.

Agreed...we are effective at running the ball but could be much better with more commitment to it and a better RB...but there's only one of those we have any control over this season

Our rise back to dominance is resting on this commitment.

Tap the breaks. He is a HUGE piece (or any elite RB) but I would weigh LB depth and fixing our lack of speed in the secondary to be equally vital to our return.

If we pull Green and Turman, with our OL and DL depth next year we will be a tough team to beat, Bray or no Bray.

Just keep watching against SEC teams. You'll get the idea. We've played 2 high school teams, a weak NC State team, and a slightly above average Florida defense.

Lost all credibility. Watch how many players off that defense not only play in the NFL but go on the first and second day of the draft. Speaking your mind is one thing. Hating is another.
