'13 VA RB Derrick Green (Michigan commit)

As much as I hate to say this, that team went on the road to aTm and UT and won games. They are better than we gave them credit for.

I really can't understand people's logic.

Last week, 75% of this board had this game pegged as a win and thought that we could roll undefeated into the Bama game. We thought Driskell could not complete a forward pass.

HG and others tried to tell us that their defense was stacked, and obviously, Driskell played a great game, so the obvious conclusion is that we suck and Florida sucks and it sucks that we sucked against a sucky Gator team.

Reality: Florida is much better than we gave them credit for, and we should have known better, but we are not as bad as we think we are. Florida can challenge for the East and beats Georgia or SC IMO.

Hey we all wanted a win but the blame game will solve nothing. I have always heard it takes until year 2 for a defense to really pick up on the 3-4 scheme. Our DB's got exposed on the corners by being out of position but that is correctable.

I personally haven't thrown in the towel and I don't think our team has either. Just remember back to last year when Georgia started 0-2 and ran off 10 straight. Can we? Not going to say we can but also not going to say we can't.

As for top running backs at the game (you know who you are Mr. Green :) ) just think what you could do behind that line!! Florida has arguable one of the best front 4 front 7 combinations and we lined up and pushed them around and forced them to put 8 in the box!!!

I really think Green would look perfect in Orange!! Go Vols!!! :salute:

We're slightly better than last year, mostly because guys are healthy on offense. That's all. We still can't run the ball, we still have no commitment to running the ball, and we still have massive defensive lapses in the second half that greatly resemble a team giving up and not responding to the slightest bit of adversity. It is what it is, but once again I'm watching a team that simply isn't very well coached. I'd like to say it's just one game but I have 0 confidence that any of the other big games will be any different.

Man I wish folks would see reality. If he comes to UT it will be because he and his family like it here; that he believes the coaching staff will be here and can develop him; and that the program will be able to compete with the best to prepare him for the next level. Anything other than those is minor to the analysis.

Now tell me that the last two are going to happen and keep a straight face. I have wanted D-Green from the first time I saw his tape. But he does not have on orange colored glasses. He gets to visit any program he wants and determine which works best for him and his family. Slim chance at this point its us. Hope so, but not expecting it.

"you all would have been on the top of my list had you won. its pretty much auburn, michigan, and tn."
he went on to say that auburn was pretty much out of the picture since they suck. he said this to my brother in the locker room after the game. he still seemed like he was considering us, but getting embarrassed at home didn't help.

Doesn't he realize he could be the difference maker that we need?

Why hello, Jmoore.

This. He had a great offensive system and his passing game is second to none. But I can see why Kiffin called his own plays.

Our offensive play calling leaves a lot to be desired. We are completely unimaginative on offense, and it is no surprise to me that we struggle to defend the "gadget" plays Florida has run for the last several years. We don't run them ourselves, so I don't expect we've seen much of it in practice.

Wait a minute... let me get this straight. You guys would rather play for Brady Hoke? The same Brady Hoke that lost to Iowa and Michigan State last yr, both of which were mediocre at best and obliterated when they faced any competition?. Iowa's record was very similar to ours and the Big 10 was down last yr. We all saw what happened to Michigan St. in the bowl game. The same Brady Hoke who's season last yr was the result of a "perfect storm"?.

To date Hoke's offense can best be described as backyard or pee wee football at best. Their offensive scheme consists of jump balls and their quarterback being more athletic than his counterparts to be successful. How much progress has his offense shown from year to year?

Since we're comparing systems, How many running backs have been successful in his offense? A lot of their rushing attempts are byproducts of Robinson running the zone read.

Before a lot of you thump your chest about his ability to recruit and his recruiting success, a lot of that success is due to the talent that the area naturally produces.

Whereas I once thought that a lot of ppl on the board did not watch nor know the game of football, some of you have removed all doubt.

Making a commit to a coaching staff can be a mistake. Very few coaching staffs stay the same for a recruits career. There are many different things that make a recruit pick a school. Acting like you know the reasons they will or won't make a certain decision is laughable.

Michigan State won their bowl game against Georgia boss.

Hoke is putting together a winner and his class this year speaks to it, and I hate Michigan so it kills me to say that. Comparing the offenses isn't possible, our rush offense was ranked lower than 100 last year and the Michigan offense is run the way it is because they don't have any of Hoke recruits on the field right now (sadly, Denard is the best QB on the team). I'd love to have this kid in a orange uniform but this board is right if its down to UM and TN.
