'13 VA LB E.J. Levenberry (FSU commit)

If LT pulls Levenberry, it goes to show the pull of Bama and Saban and not the recruiter. LT always pulled great talent in his first stop there and was basically average here. We assumed Sal had the mid-Atlantic on lock down based on his time at Bama now we see that's not the case (though things can very well change).

An elite recruiter to me is someone who can pull players from all over despite their lack of ties to the area and convince guys to take a chance on a less than ideal situation (moving, struggling program, etc.). Tosh Lupoi is elite, despite maybe being a little shady.

Sorry for the rant, just frustrating seeing LT pull elite talent and knowing he has very little to do with it.

CLT was not hired back imo to coach as much as recruit. Sal though is the better hire because he could do both. I think if UT was a top 25 team this and they may end up there his relationship in the mid-atlantic states will pay off big for UT especially in the 2014 class.

Stop it man......Give anybody a winning product to sell and you'll see what happens. This UGA performance created a bit of a buzz seeing how we competed. The recruits took notice. M.North coming out saying we were his leader shows this. Recruits are seeing that we are very close. No.5 team on the road and we lose by a TD with chances to tie/win the game.

Now coaches have a bit better product to show recruits than say the collapse vs. Florida that had a lot of heat on Dooley.

We competed against UGA and didn't fold when they came out with a strong 1st half and a 17 point lead. Shows a resilience that UT hasn't shown much of the past several years. Yes we lost, but if we got blown out, recruiting would have taken a hit for sure.

Yep it seems he is opening his recruitment up a little. CLT just visited him while visiting J Allen and appears J Allen is recruiting him to UA along with one of our top 2014 targets is talking to EJ as well. Should get interesting with his recruitment.

EJ's interest in Tennessee is no surprise. We never stopped recruiting him---been in his ear along.

Just not true, LT can recruit. Before Alabama and Tennessee, he was Recruiting Coordinator at GT and Head of Recruiting for LSU when they won the 2003 NC.

Sal is on some big time recruits, what do you say we see how his first NSD as a Vol plays out before passing judgment.

Nothing shady about Lupoi. The man can flat out recruit. Period. He relates well to the players he recruits and as a position coach has built a reputation developing players and getting that talent into the league.

Agreed. Lupoi would be very dangerous at a place like USC.

So, it is the product for some recruiters that gets it done more than the recruiters ability? May explain why CLT did not impress while here.

I had a discussion with some well informed Florida fans about EJ, and they all agreed he was vastly overrated. Is this how most people feel or are they just butthurt?

I have actually even heard that from FSU fans and other fan bases. I'm not a talent evaluator and neither are they so I don't know.

UF and FSU fans can assume all they want but our staff just saw him play and seem to be impressed enough to push hard even with only a few spots left. I will trust Saban over fans anyday. My guess is more BH.:hi:

After his recent Rivals interview, he said he had 18 tackles in his game... maybe a little more. He is visiting Oklahoma this upcoming weekend. They play Notre Dame. He says he is still committed to FSU. He will official to FSU when they play UF. Also said he still hears from Bama and may visit them.

SN- didn't Skeeter say not to be surprised if we get a visit from Levenberry?

"only other school that he is interested in," levenberry's father, eric levenberry, stated via text message. Levenberry committed to florida state in april over tennessee, oklahoma and michigan. He had long professed interest in the volunteers, whose previous assistant coaches recruited him heavily.

"he loves the fans," eric levenberry. "he loved the game day atmosphere more than any other school. Only other school he would take an official visit to."

Somebody just tell this kid UT wants him, come join the new coaching staff and start a new winning era at UT

Actually he has been interested all along, we just did not reciprocate the interest

Exactly. we were basically in the drivers seat...
and then
"The Vols were once high on the Levenberrys' list, but they said they haven't heard from Tennessee's coaches in a substantial amount of time."---ESPN LINK

:yuck:

Great impact LB who could contribute his freshman year. We need this guy. Three or Four of the coaches that have been discussed could flip this kid. Strong, Smart, Gruden etc
